GTV TS Turbo

Anyone interested in a turbo kit for a Twin Spark?

Hello

I'm thinking of selling the turbo conversion i have on my GTV. I'm extremely happy with it and i'll most definitely be building another one at some point, sole reason for sale is I need the money for something else right now.

Comes as a complete hardware kit, TD04 or TD05 turbo (i have both, the first one for up to about 270hp, the second good for about 340), stainless manifold, downpipe, external wastegate, oil/water plumbing, intercooler, injectors, the lot.

Hmmm maybe.... what kind of price would you be after? How long do they take to fit?

I'm asking for 1300€ plus shipping. If you fit it on a GTV, for which it's designed, everything fits like a glove and it can be completely fitted in a couple of hours. Other alfas are not that different but some rearranging on the plumbing might be necessary, i haven't tried to fit it on anything else, so i don't know.

Hmmmm will have a think and get back to you. Need to get some idea of costs for fitting first.

Is your GTV a CF2 or CF3? Looks like CF2 from pic but hard to tell 100%

What have you done with the ECU, is it still running on the standard map with just bigger injectors?

No mate, i now run it on a standalone ECU. Car was originally a Novitec turbo conversion, using a stock CF1 ecu with a totally ****e remap, but over time i've binned every single thing they did, hardware and otherwise, including the original engine. The way i see it, there's absolutely no chance you could get away with a standard map on bigger injectors.

Does the ECU & loom come with this package? If not how much extra would you want for it?

No, it's just the hardware kit. If i were to sell the ecu and loom, it would be another 800€ including the map, but i can't commit to selling them yet because it would be a bit time consuming for me to put back together, and i don't know if i can spend the time.

Maybe you should suggest to people what ECU & loom to buy, and you can share a copy of your map. 99% of people on here just want plug & play, so they can drop a box of bits off to a garage and pay the bill at the end.

I thought a thicker head gasket had to be fitted if the twin spark is to fit a turbo.

If I was buying this kit I would want everything like our says, plug in and play

Nope, you'll take away the quench / squish area that helps with piston cooling, better fuel distribution, and thus actually detonation protection. Lowering the CR by fitting a thicker gasket will not help detonation prevention, might even make it worse. You also start messing with how the stretch bolts maintain head torque. The other trick people do is to recess the gudgeon pin in the conrod by 1mm. The head bolts then still work as they should, but still you mess up the quench. The only truly safe and proper way to lower CR properly is by getting deeper dished forged pistons. But that is when you want to boost 1 bar +
