Crazed Windows 10, disconnected drive?

What's with this malarky demanding me keep my drive connected permanently?

I like to turn off my modem and shut down the PC before I kick the wife out the door and snuggle down with the cat at night?

Demanding intrusive dictatorial types, who must know everything, load of crappers running the show? Pee Orf' and I don't want most of your pay for apps either, so naff off with them too!!

Not a rant, more just observations which I suppose will be of no concern to those who eat apples dressed in mackintoshes will it?

I also get no updates,(how bad is that?) as it states regularly, Element 0x80070490 not found or something along those lines.

Maybe they are after me getting a new computer, or paying for Windows ten on a USB stick at £99 or so?
