Windows 10 RTM

Who is adopting early then?

I've downloaded the ISO and I'm going to be upgrading a spare laptop once the thing has decrypted the full disk encryption.

Looking at tomorrow at this rate before I get to see what all the fuss is about.

Cheers

I tried to update this morning before work, but it wasn't available. Will be trying it tonight!

I have been using the Tech Preview for a while now, it really is a great OS.

Yeah, I ran one f the earlier builds of the tech preview for a while, not a lot of change but some fixes for things that have been a problem since the time of Vista in quite specific scenarios like NAT traversal in IPSEC VPNs using the native Windows VPN client capabilities.

I'm not updating my home machine until I've had opportunity to fully test it at work.

Working in IT has it's benefits.

I backed up all music and pictures on my computer the other night so I could change if I chose to without panicking. I'm still probably going to wait a couple of weeks though, just to make sure.

If you've Nvidia graphics there's a conflict between Windows Update and Nvidia's driver updater.
Apparently.

Been using the tech preview for a while and think it's pretty good.
Just updated one of my PC's which was running win 7 and had no problems so tomorrow I'll update my other one which has win 8.1.

I tried one of mine this morning just after 6am with an Nvidia GPU and Windows update failed. I went onto Microsofts website to download the ISO and found an option to do it there instead. It took around 75mins and needed an extra reboot at the end to finalise the graphics driver.

Not really had chance to use it yet, but the upgrade process worked after the initial hitch.

Haven't tried it yet but like the look of the media creation tool. Anyone know how configurable it is?

This is what I went into when Windows update failed. I suspect it's geared up for home use so you can build it from scratch with an ISO burned to a DVD or a USB device.

ISO or USB drive, x86 or x64 or both and that's all she wrote, no built-in capability to slipstream additional drivers or software at this point.

It's more geared for businesses as the Windows "Update to 10" nagware patch does not get installed on domain connected computers.

I have tried multiple times to upgrade the test machine here and I'm now resorting to a factory refresh with a new SP1 install (win 7 x64) Hopefully then I'll get past the meaningful and enlightening "Something Happened" error...

We won't be getting W10 at work any time soon. They've only just finished type-approving 8. Which probably won't see the light-of-day now.

7 for the foreseeable future I guess.

Not a bad thing, it's a stable and capable OS.

Like Nev, I'll stick with 7, as 10 failed, failed, failed, waste of time, electricity and my patience?

May try it later for the 4th. time, after I return this evening from a family funeral. : Not a happy chappie at the Mo'?

I only clicked the 'notify me when it's my turn' button last night, so suspect I won't hear back for some time.

My computer is running absolutely fine as it is, I am probably not going to bother upgrading.

It is bound to make my computer slower and take up more hard drive space.

Got it working. Loving the Xbox app. Streaming FIFA 15 last night to a laptop that is not even close to gaming spec.

I don't have any sensitive data on the laptop, so I'm rushing in head first!

Just got it on my laptop! Seems quite nice and user-friendly. The computer is a lot faster too!

My desktop (which I'm on now) is scheduled for W10 at 5pm...gulp!

...well, it was all going swimmingly well until: I tried to play something off YouTube and there's no sound.

Since installing Windows10 my computer is able to make sound, like when it boots up. But no other sound

The little speaker icon in the taskbar is set to the same level it was before going W10, and it's not muted. Buggerrrrrrrrrr...

Just finished installing it. First impression is that I preferred Win8.

Just have to keep playing & reconfiguring everything.
