USB powered portable monitor

Okay, just found out I have to work onsite at a customer all of August
and September. I'll have an office but no amenities like a monitor.

I don't want neck/back ache so I'm looking at getting a small (14-16")
LCD monitor. They do USB powered ones these days.

so far have homed in on:

Any others?

Isn't that about the same size as a laptop screen, or will you be using it to extend the display?

On 2nd thoughts, are you using a laptop? What about putting the laptop in a holder / cradle, so that the screen sits up higher, whilst using a separate keyboard? It would be a cheaper option and you wouldn't be left with a monitor you may not need, afterwards.

Also, I didn't know USB 3.0 could be used to provide output / signal!

I've got a small-screened 13" laptop for portability.
The other option is to order a new laptop with a big screen
and take the hit on portability...

I think the USB3.0 thing means that the screen has an integrated
graphics processor and so processing if off-loaded...

Cradle things look cumbersome and i'd still only have a 13" screen.

Which you are now contemplating, I see.

Is the USB powered monitor still a consideration?

And did you say what was wrong with using the HDMI port that most laptops have these days?

Okay, so the idea was to have a portable monitor.

The USB powered one means no need to plug in.
Some customers don't have free mains sockets
so I have to run on batteries.

Looks like I'll be getting a larger screened laptop
but this doesn't solve the neck pain issue....

Get a 21" monitor + kensington lock and leave it on site. They're cheap as chips now.

The USB monitors are OK, but I wouldn't like to use one as a primary display.

Or get one of those little plastic stands that elevate the laptop.
