Gramofon - Wireless Multiroom Alternative to SONOS

I know there are quite a few techy muso's on here and thought this might be interesting to them, seems to be a fairly young product but the features look great, devices that add wireless upnp, dlna capability to your existing no network hifi that also acts as a wifi access point to extend coverage throughout your home.

Looks pretty good, might get one to try out, I've tried various other devices in the past but all seem to be constrained by relatively weak wireless radio transceivers.

Anyway, heres the link.

Interesting but it is still upnp/DLNA. You really ought to try a Squeezebox setup and LMS. It remains far superior.

I'm not familiar with AirPlay: I was looking for something to play my Spotify playlists and albums on my stereo.

Until next week (when I will start using my old new apple phone handed down from my daughter who now has something newer), I was using the Pro-Ject Dock Box that I bought to get my iPod to play for both my iPod and phone interchangeably. However, in all its wisdom, Apple () have changed the connector from the broad flat one to the little small connector so my new second-hand phone will no longer fit.

I had to find something new for streaming and this looked nifty enough...

I'll let you know how i get on!

I think the Gramofon will do exactly what you are after. It's pretty much exactly what it's designed for. If all I wanted was Spotify or music from any of the other streaming services it supports then I would get one but the fact is my Squeezebox/LMS already does exactly that as well as BBC iPlayer and also my own local music and does it in a seamless way.

Received the package today.
Slightly disappointed at the audio connection (uses a rather flimsy interconnect going from a mini plug to two rca's) - I would rather have used better quality interconnects but hey, seeing as Spotify streams at relatively low quality anyway...

Will install on Sunday as i will have to re-arrange the stuff in the audio cupboard...

A breeze to set up.
What more is there to say?

Works a charm playing my tunes streaming Spotify, and also supports the Allplay Radio app so all the benefits of Internet radio as well.

Well chuffed!
Delivery was within a couple of days so no complaints there either.

All in all: so far: well worth the expense!

Are you streaming from iThingy or Android?
Does Allplay have any significant benefits over AirPlay that you've discovered as yet?

The Gramofon takes care of the streaming; over the wire from the router.
I control it from the iThingy.
As I've never used airplay, I can't compare with the Allplay jukebox. I've so far only used the Allplay radio app. Works seamlessly.

Took a few hours to reconfigure the AV cupboard, but it all looks tidy now
About time too - years of neglect and bucketfuls of dust

Looks like a tuner on the right, and on the left, a newer generation Cyrus pre/power combo.

And a very nice bespoke cabinet, by the way.

Ah yes, the old Cyrus separate power supply!

Many, many years ago I had a Cyrus Amp, and then bought the separate power supply a while later.

What they said was true, as well as more grunt the amp then gave a bigger, more controlled sound.

Obviously Spotify is 320kbps OGG but what format does AllPlay get?

I think it depends on the radio station? There's quite a spread.

Meanwhile: enjoying the use of the Gramofon, for both Internet Radio & Spotify!

I've experimented a bit on my Ruark R7 and the internet has directed me to some great high resolution internet radio feeds, Linn have 3 channels that work great and there are plenty of others out there.

Linn ? Music
