I should really have checked with you lot first...

...but I just bought this: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60EB-K Compact Digital Camera: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

C'mon then, tell me I could have got something a lot better for less money .

[I'm a point & shoot type of chap, but I do appreciate good quality pics/video]

You didn't get the -K did you?

The -J is a much better camera for 1/2 the price.

If I had one of those in my pocket I'd be arrested for gross indecency, I was after a compact!

Nice camera though .

For some reason the link to the one I bought is now showing as 280 - I only paid 239.

Panasonics are fine.

I'd have looked at the Fuji Xs myself.

Or the Nikon 1s (I've actually got 2 of those at the moment.. )

Again, really wanted something that would easily go in my pocket.

The Nikon looks quite nice but not really as compact as the Panasonic.

Panasonic/Lumix are pretty decent cameras in general.
They (propose) to use Leica glass which if so can't be bad.

I'm a crap photographer but have a few cameras Better at collecting than using (it's an addiction I think).

Those Nikon 1's (mirrorless) are good, I had a J1 but I think the V1 with an electronic viewfinder (as well as a LCD screen) is the better one personally just because I prefer to use a viewfinder as oppose to a screen.

I have [a few] Nikon DSLR's but two of my favourite cameras are an old Nikon 8800 (bridge camera) and a Lumix G2 with 14-42mm and a 45-200mm lens (4/3's mirrorless). Lumix equivalent to the Nikon J/V's if slightly bigger in size. The Nikon's are neat and tidy as well as being compact.

I also have a Leica D-Lux 3 which is basically a Panasonic/Lumix compact from yesteryear. Brilliant camera.

I'd show you pictures I've taken with them all, but they're all ****

I'm not going anywhere, I'm just going.
Statements above are all my own opinion and not fact.

I used a LUMIX camera on holiday once, belonged to a friend, very, very nice pics and a nice compact camera.

I am a Canon camera fan, but that's just brand loyalty. I have a Canon DSLR but also a small Canon Sureshot for sticking in my pocket when I don't want to look like a tourist.

TBH I'm the same, only Nikon. I had as my first SLR in 1980 something.. (and currently own) a Praktica SLR but apart from that and the Panasonic it's Nikon.

No matter how far technology progresses, nothing will ever
fit in those lycra short pockets.

Our compact is a Canon we got about 3 years ago. Can't remember the model off-hand but it's a good value bit of kit where the main lack is a decent zoom lens.

The only 'pocket' is in the front, it's got my lunchbox in it and it's not short .
