Anyone got a Hudl?

Hi I have been looking at the Tesco hudl and it seems quite nifty for 129.00. Anyone here have one? Are they any good or is there better for around the same money?

My sister's got one. It's pretty good value for money and it works for what she wants i.e. e-mail, a bit of browsing and the iPlayer. It's not as slick or intuitive to use as an iOS device but then it's a third of the price!

Not got one myself, but heard very good reviews. A workmate bought one on the basis of those reviews, and was impressed enough that he went right out and bought another a week or two later.

Son of Hudl: Tesco flogs new Atom-powered 8.3-inch Android tablet € The Register

At that price I don't think you can really go wrong.

But I would look at similar Intel chipped devices Android devices for comparison.
Such as the Asus MeMo Pads.

Microsoft really screwed the pooch with Windows 8 by not adopting
Asus' style of tablet/laptop as their main use model.

I'm now using the "Docking Station" 7" tablet, that came free with my Padfone Mini,
more than i thought I would.

At home the phone now stays docked and it's the equivalent of a standard Asus tablet.
The only "flaw" is that the station tablet doesn't have a front facing camera but I'm not
a big video caller anyways.

I really like Asus' ZenUI for Android too.

I seem to remember they were even talking about a phone that docked to a tablet
that docked to a keyboard as a 3-in-1 device....

Well I like the look of it, any bigger then my laptop takes over. Just like the idea of having it to browse the net or watch online films. Time to start adding up the Tesco points! Thanks for the info chaps

I bought Mr PG a Hudl using my Tesco vouchers. I paid 7.50 for it Total bargain.

He's happy with it and it does everything our other tablets do. And you get a Tesco hotline when your groceries are getting low

We got a Hudl2 for JimJr for Christmas as he hogs the iPad. His gran got the original last year and has been very happy with it too. It seems to be perfect for what they both use it for i.e. basically browsing the web and watching YouTube plus a bit of emailing for gran.

Like PG, a further discount with Tesco vouchers made it even more attractive - not quite as much as she got off but a useful discount.

Glad I found this thread, I wanted to ask people's opinions of the Hudl 2.
Like previous posters, with the Clubcard Boost I can pick one up for next to nothing. People still happy with the Hudl 2?
Personally i'd use it for web browsing, youtube, email and some games maybe.

Quite happy to see that it gets very good ratings and, being better than the ipad in some respects!

We got one for the kids to keep them off the iPad. Great no problems and has been dropped quite a few times!

JimJr's gets absolutely hammered in terms of use and it is holding up very well. Touch wood. He basically doesn't watch telly at all, so if he isn't on the Hudl he's on his PS4.

We need to start curtailing it but that's another story.

For those who have a Hudl2, have you been able to get a % to go alongside the battery?

I don't know of any Android device which shows the battery percentage when not charging.

For Android you have to activate it:

Settings->Battery->Show Battery Percentage checkbox

(I clicked like/unlike instead of reply. )

Samsung on 4.4.2 it's at the bottom of the list of apps.

Asus on 4.4.2 it's above the discharge graph.

So obviously some customization going on....

All my 'droids have been Lollipopped.

One nice feature of Lollipop concerning the battery is that it now estimates the time to full charge on the lock screen.
