That's pretty much how the shortest "voice controlled PC demonstration" went...

But yes, depends on laptop - restore partition or disc. Some manufacturers will happily provide a single, free replacement if the disc is lost. Otherwise, formatting the main drive you then need to decide if to install an alternative OS.

Why a factory reset? If it's to delete your personal data, the simplest solution is buy a new drive to put in it and drill a hole through the old one.

That works if you have the disc to install Windows (or preferred OS) from, or clone... My cousin resets his netbook every 12 months as he doesn't store any data on it worth keeping, it's just for browsing so depends on its use I guess.

Factory Reset

Hi
Just noticed this from last week hope I am not too late to help

If the purpose of the factory reset is to delete data permanently then it will not work. Restoring factory settings will make the data difficult for you to access but will still be recoverable using a variety of tools. There is software that you can use to securely erase data by multiple overwrites or use hardware tools that magnetically wipe disks. Formatting the disk will not necessarily delete all data but will remove your operating system.
If you want to return to factory settings for performance purposes it is fairly easy to do in Windows depending upon which version you use.
