Designing an app (iPhone and Android)

I am looking to design a fairly basic app for work.

It will just be an information portal and would not need to be connected to a database.

Some features of it would be to add an event to a calendar, set a reminder and be able to send a notification (automatically produced email perhaps).

Does anyone have any experience of making apps that could point me in the right direction?
I would primarily look at Android first.

I don't have any real programming experience. I can cope with HTML but beyond that I can't.

Many thanks!
Jack

Calendar almost certainly equals database. There are plenty of systems out there that support events and reminders etc that already have iPhone & android client apps. You are going to need to be a bit more specific with your requirements.

Work collegaue cobbled together a beta positions sending app
a while back. I think you just need the android SDK.

Would a website not make more sense if you know html already?
Then all devices could use it.

I'll ask the colleague for more info next week.

Thanks both.
We have a website but apps are quite useful for quick navigation without info overload.

It would be a case of open the app, select your speciality, click on the course of interest and have the ability to save a reminder to the calendar or send a note of interest to us.

That should be fine as it will just need to latch on to whatever calendar apps the user has available. Obviously throwing an error if one isn't available. Course and specialists could be saved within the app or load from a resource elsewhere, without a database. Just might mean updates if this information changes.

If you can use c# then there is an app out there somewhere that you code in c# then it compiles for android or iOS. It's not the cleanest but if you app isn't resource intense, which it doesn't sound then you can use that for a starter. Or learn some java and do android
