Cry Like A Baby Dammit need a phone!

So my personal Xperia Mini has stopped receiving work email.

Works supplied Samsung Galaxy S4 is working, but it's SIM locked
to those b'stards at Orange.

Gaaaah!!!

Just ordered one of these from Amazon Prime:

Wiko Mobile - OZZY

Dual Sim as standard.

If it's no good I'll send it back.

I'll be keyboardless.

Hmmm not convinced you're going to get on with that.

Have you considered one of the dual sim kits available on eBay and such like ?

Also the S4 can be unlocked can it not ?

I was just about to post an update!

The lack of physical keyboard is bloody annoying.

But aside from that I'm pretty impressed so far.

I'm bowled over by Google's speech-to-text!
The bloody thing actually works thus mitigating the lack
of physical keyboard and finally delivering something we were
promised 30 years ago.

Build quality is pretty good although volume and power buttons seem
a bit flimsy and there's no external speaker, it uses the ear piece
so sound quality is muted.

Battery life seems to be miraculous. Even today with push work email active
it's a 97% since 8am. The old phone would be around 80% by now.

It's a budget phone, camera picture quality is poor and it's missing features
I really like coloured notification LED and the home, back and menu touch
keys aren't back-illuminated.

There's a front camera for vid calls too.

Dual SIM is working great although it sees my femto-cell at home as roaming
(which in effect it is) and so queries sending MMS etc on a roaming network.
(I think you can probably disable this.)

All the software seems to be working, but VPN appears to be acting up
as it connects ok but BBC iPlayer still sees me as outside the UK. (Could be a VPN
issue.)

I like it.

And for the price of €69 it is phenomenal!

So in summary:

Cheap.
Okay for browsing/email/phone calls.
Good battery life.
Pocketable size.

4 out of 5 stars.

Good stuff - look at Surfeasy in the PlayStore for a simple way around the iPlayer issue.

Will give it a spin.

What's quite shocking with this Wiko phone is that for 1/4 the price of a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini
or 1/9 the price of an iPhone you get 99% of what you need in a phone. (Plus dual SIM.)

Update:

have added a raft of appps and recently noticed the audio playback was stuttering.

Thought it was an A2DP issue but happened from speaker/headphones too.

Uninstalled stuff etc. No change.

Then I worked out that "Quick Boot" was active. (Setting->Accessibility->Quick Boot)

This seems to mean that when the phone is switched off it doesn't actually
power down fully.

Turned this off, cycled the power and this obviously cleared some rogue processes etc
and everything is back to noraml.

Phew!

Still missing the keyboard but everything else is cool for cats.
