Have I wrecked my netbook?

I was messing around on the netbook the other day when my daughter distracted me. The netbook fell off of my lap and landed on the floor quite heavily.

It was on at the time, and immediately after everything had frozen up, although the display remained on.

Now when I switch it on there is a faint buzzing noise and it won't boot, it simply comes up with a message saying boot error and press any key to continue.

It is an Asus Eee PC with a regular type hard drive.

Have I manged to kill the hard drive?

Cheers.

Hi, yes would put money on a dead drive I'm afraid. I've changed many just after similar incidents.

Is it worth fixing do you think?

It wasn't all that great beforehand as it was really slow.

What is it worth to you? Could probably get a decent new drive for around £40

If it was running XP I wouldn't bother. XP goes out of support from Microsoft now so no more security fixes

A new netbook of the same type is about £200

It was running windows 7

I can't say I was very impressed with it though, maybe time for a better one.

Personally, i'd check to make sure the hard drive is properly seated before making any purchasing decisions.

Well if all else fails I have a hammer.

Or I might sell it spares or repairs on ebay.
