Hmmm I need a new mobile phone!

I have a Sony(Ericsson) Xperia Mini Pro (K17i)

Running Android 2.3 and a real keyboard.
It's pretty slow these days. Especially if I've got
SatNav, MediaPlayer and phone running at the same time.
(Along with push email)

I need a phone that has a real QWERTY keyboard,
preferably with dual SIMs
And on the Apps front has at least Audible, TuneIn & NitroDesk Touchdown available.
Hopefully a model less than 1 year old and hasn't got a stupid 5 inch screen
(Pref ~3 inches)

I think a BB almost fists the bill.

Any others around ?

Ta,
TT4N

I'd recommend my phone Nev (Motorola G), but it's way too simple for a technofreak like yourself .

I just can't believe that in the 21st century we ended up with no choice
about the type of phone we can have. It's slab mini-tablet or nothing.

Poor Bill indeed!

BlackPhone?

It's Android - sort of, and private, sort of...

[edit] sorry - misread your question: you need a keyboard...[/edit]

i miss my xperia mini pro

replaced it with a nokia 6 something or other, wasnt as big as all the other big slab tab phones, does the job and you get used to the touchscreen keyboard. nokia apps store is a bit limited too.

almost got the new xperia but it was massive, i think there is a smaller version of that out now z1? would probably go for that if i was choosing right now.

So, looks like the answer is no.
Thanks all for confirming.

Maybe something will get announced at the MWC in Barcelona this week...

(Won't hold my breath)

There is nothing out there which fits your requirements as described in the OP.

The closest you'll get is a BB but they only really come into their own if you have a BB enterprise server running and the app ecosystem pales into insignificance versus iOS, Android and even WP.

Big blackberry q10 fan here. Excellent phone. Don't really do apps myself so have no idea about the ones you requested though. Could be worth a try...

  1. Colleagues and customer have commented on my tatty looking phone.
  2. Just changed my forfait to 4G and the XperiaMiniPro is only 3G
  3. I feel I'm not helping the industry I work in by keeping a 3 year old phone.

This is the longest I've ever kept a mobile phone!

I know it's not ideal, but with the keyboard being the requirement which scuppers you with every option, could you get something like this?

Bluetooth Keyboard Case For Apple iPhone 4, iPhone 4S - Apple iPhone 4S

(For whatever phone became your preferred option.)

It has crossed my mind, but then I'm thinking, "WTF!?
It's the 21st century and I can't have anything but a slabphone and
a bluetooth add-on !?!"

Recently found out some Samsungs have an "external" antenna connector:
if you drill out the back cover.

Hmmm....

Should we, at this stage, be approaching the UN for help and/or advice?

Sadly I think Verizon handsets aren't very compatible with anything else. (CDMA)

Maybe the Droid 5 is an option if it ever appears.
If only they could shrink it by 1/2" using, oh I don't know, microelectronics.....

@'Max Yes. Look at the evolution and then where I am now:

Panasonic G300 1st phone, how cool!
Nokia 6110 Oh nuvolo style blue/green!
Nokia 6210 Oh dual-band for roaming
Motorola Timeport L7089 Oooh tri-band for the US, but rubbish phone!
Nokia 6310i Best phone ever!
Nokia 6310i So good got a 2nd one.
Panasonic X700 First smartphone Meh
SE K710i Wow a real camera phone!
K800i 1st 3G phone
K850i Another great camera phone
C510i Downsize to slimmer phone. Nice metal slide casing for the camera
W995i Best of the old phones. With WiFi too!
Xperia X10 Mini Pro Good but not great.
Xperia Mini Pro Perfect! <-But I'm stuck here!!!!

Well Nev, you know what they say, when evolution stops in our little branch, we become a useless little genetic backwater and another - superior - species will come along to replace us.

We're all doomed and it's the mobiles wot dun it!
