There is only one telly in the house and I think it is a 4:3

Put it this way, it's about two feet deep.

That just means it's a cathode ray tube TV.

if it looks almost as high as it is wide, it's a 4:3.

If it looks considerably wider it'll be a 16:9.

Bedroom is host to a 17" 30 year old 4:3 Sony Black Trinitron CRT - it looks like it's never going to give up. We're on our third remote though

Widescreen LCD in the living room.
