Help iPhone Backups on a PC

In the process of upgrading to a pair of new 5s's. My SiL & her hubby are having our 4s's for Crimbo.

Anyway, does a full backup on a PC do the pictures

When I set up the new phones up as a restore from the previous backup, will all the photos be there?

Cheers,

Yep recently had to restore my phone as it went doolally halfway through an iOS upgrade, I wiped it and loaded the PC backup, everything still there.

Just back up the old phone to PC before doing the new one. That was you won't lose any pics you've taken since you last backed it up

If in doubt, just open the iPhone from the "Computer/My Computer" and you'll see a folder called DCIM... All photos are in there. It means even if there's an issue with the backup, you'll not lose the pics.

I tend to just use the iCloud backup now, when I updated to the latest iOS something went wrong and I had to do a wipe and restore from a backup. It takes a bit longer with everything being up their in the cloud but it worked perfectly.

I do have a lot of music on my PC though that was not bought through iTunes so that still needed syncing afterwards.

Thanks. Well, it worked. Apart from one app and some post backup pre restore text messages, everything transferred fine.

The app is TU go which compensates for our poor coverage in our area via our router so need to get that sorted.

Can't use iCloud as our BB speed is only 2 meg download & 0.4meg upload.

Restore took 6 hours!! Backup took 45 mins. Work that one out....lol

My broadband isn't much better, it took a while for everything to become available again, its odd watching it sort itself out.

As if by magic, all your stuff appears

I do wish they'd up the 1000 photo limit on photostream though

Restore should never take that long, must be a problem with the laptop. I've not touched anything windows for 10 years at home, I used to kick desktops round the office room on numerous occasions, Mac for the last ten years and not a single problem. We had 1 meg until a couple of weeks ago and could just cope with that and iCloud. 40 meg now!

It was shifting 30gb across. Laptop is pretty decent, 4gb of ram etc. USB 2 too.
