recovering broken sd card

does anyone know if data (pictures) can be recovered from an sd card that has broken?
the casing has been damaged and now my camera just says it's locked
the computer card reader won't even entertain it, doesn't attempt to read anything.

done a search and there is software that will search for lost files but they are no use if the card can't even be accessed!

any advice?

I'd look at either Recuva by Piriform (more well known for CCleaner) or PC Smart Recovery Inspector (or one of their PC Inspector recovery program) by Convar (a company involved with 9/11 data recovery. Not sure they'll help if nothing will see the card unfortunately though... If the computer sees a card but no file system it may still be worth a try.

that's the whole trouble with the file recovery systems mate, the computer doesn't recognise there is a file in the slot, so searching is impossible!

managed to get round it now. my camera was recognising the card, just wouldn't let any pics be taken. so managed to transfer all the pics across to my computer in a large file. will burn them to disc and then burn this bloody cheap memory card!!

thanks for the suggestions

No worries - I always connect the camera up directly and never bother with my card reader!
