Diagnostics & wi fi.

Ok, please bear with me here, I am just not tooled up in the grey matter area when it comes to technology.
As I am very competent when it comes to spannering on motors & MIG welding, but now own a couple of Alfas as well, I'll be needing to download multicuescan on to a laptop (Which I currently do not posess)
Now then, as my current desk top Dell set up still runs on coal, Im going to get a wi fi router (for other devices that may enter the house.
HOWEVER...Once I have downloaded the diagnostics onto said laptop. I will be working in my garage out of range of wi fi, so my dumb question is Q) Do I need to be in a wi fi zone to plug into the car and operate the diagnostic software please?

Sif is correct. You will need to be connected to wifi / internet to update the software to a new version. Ecuscan runs locally on laptop so no need to have interner connectivity to scan a car

Many, many thanks for that...The general opinion was that I didn't need connectivity in my garage, but I just needed someone to emphatically confirm it. Cheers...

P.S Now looking for a cheap wi fi lap top solely for workshop use.??

Good god no. It's going to be coated in oily fingers and used only in the workshop...The cheapest, sh*****st laptop that works ok with a battery & has a mains lead.
