If you bought ...

... or were given a Kindle that was bought from Waterstones, eventually
your screensaver will stick on one predetermined by Waterstones. Or so
it seems and this has happened to mine

I've been searching around on google to see if I can find a way round this
and so far nada

Has anyone had more success than me and resolved this issue?

Hi Dave, have to tried to reset your kindle by holding down the ON/OFF button for about 30 seconds as this should reset everything without losing any books stored within as it's what Sue does if her kindle freezes

Hope this helps

Les, it isn't frozen. Waterstones have sold Kindles on which the
screensaver, after a while, sticks on one particular image and
no longer changes on a daily basis. It isn't a fault as such as it
does exactly what 'they' intended.

There are two annoyances, firstly that they do not make you aware
of this when you buy the device and, secondly, they will not advise
a way of stopping it. Nor will Amazon technical help you as it is not
a fault.

Order an identical model from Amazon, switch them, then send the "new" one back for a full refund....?

Never thought of that

The only problem is that this is very much a Waterstones issue
that Amazon are well aware of. As soon as they got my old one
they would know what had been done.

It's dishonest and would make me no better than them

Interesting: Consumer Inquisitor: Amazon leaves Waterstones up Kindle creek

Not trying to be smart Gibbo, but is it really that annoying ?

TBH,it's far too much hassle to change it...i'd be miffed that it was sold without this being told to you...but in the grand scheme of things...take it on the chin.

see post number 3, I already gave up.

As you say, it's not the most important thing in the world but what
was a nice feature has been summarily taken away and that is a
little annoying. I can assure you that I have not lost one second's
sleep over it
