You can go back just now. Under the Tools icon there is an option to go back to Hotmail. Ultimately though you might have to go with it. Hopefully they will improve it before forcing everybody over.

+1

Heap of poo (at the moment).

Thank goodness I only use hotmail once in a blue moon, and then via the mail client on my Mac.

Oh dear, sounds like yet another problem to have to grapple with.

To add insult to injury I see that Photobucket is forcing me and everyone else onto their new site on the 18th March. I did try this new site to post pics of a Meet a month or so ago. After struggling for hours all I managed was the Links codes in the Post, no pics.

Happy days ahead on more than one front then.

they've removed the option to revert to the old hotmail now as well, so i'm stuck

i hate the look & feel of it too - it all feels a bit 'fisher price' to me. can't believe microsfot have released this rubbish without it being properly developed

That sounds like a pain. I've been a Hotmail users for years and think the current Hotmail is a decent enough effort for a free email service. My missus uses Yahoo and I think that's pretty rubbish by comparison.

Is the Outlook.com replacement supposed to make home email look like Outlook that 99% of us use at work?

I've had this offer recently as well, and have declined it every time, I hope I don't HAVE to upgrade it soon though, judging by the comments on here.........

Any similarity between outlook.com & outlook is purely unintentional. Outlook.com is basically the same as the new Mail client in Win8.

Did it about half an hour ago and they said they'd reached the day's quota, so I'm just going to wait for them to do it automatically.

I don't use it, I'm only keeping it as I've had the account for years.

I don't use Outlook at work. I use a better email system!

Seriously though I don't understand why anyone uses hotmail anyway. There are lots of better alternatives - gmail for example is always faster and with the various methods of access available - web, desktop client, ithingy and smartphone - it's more accessible than hotmail anyway.

"Proper outlook" the bane of my life that email app! As I say, I'm only keeping it as I've had the account since the year dot.

My G Mail account kept requiring me to change my password as I think someone raided it regularly, and as I'm not that computer savvy, I use Hotmail instead now. :

If all else fails as I don't e mail much at all, I'll use the missus acc. that she has set up at the local library, and get her to oversee my muddling ways.

New versions of Outlook have recently been released with the same look and feel as Windows 8. Most companies won't have upgraded to the new versions yet. This new website gives you a similar appearance to these new versions.

The new fully installed versions such as Office 2013 have been out for a couple of months to businesses and home users whilst the new version of the streamed subscription based Office system, Office 365, has been out a few weeks for home users and very recently for businesses.

Hmmmm - can't say I'm Impressed, Al.....I've ignored the offers so far, too - and I don't like the look of that.......always viewed all my email on various accounts via Outlook Express, and that's been OK - I guess because I'm used to it......but I really don't like being "forced" to upgrade....

Mind you I'm still using XP, too

I think that you'll see that changing quite a lot in the next 12 months as companies move off XP. Although Microsoft haven't supported XP for a while for home users, support and updates for large companies on XP is due to stop in just over 12 months time which will force a move off XP.

i'm still on xp too. the desktop in the other lounge which i hardly ever use is on vista, and it's crap. having said that, the pc itself is cheap rubbish so maybe it's not the vista that's crap. never tried windows 7, or 8

this new outlook.com thingy has got a little bit quicker in the last week or so, but i'm still not a fan

Vista is cr4p. 7 is very good, 8 is for young people with touchscreens and lots of mobile devices which synchronise for the enhancement of their social media delight - none of which apply to me because I am old and grumpy and will somebody help me and tell me how to make 8 look like 7 because it's doing my head in!

Try Welcome to Classic Shell Max. When we eventually get Mrs C's 2 month old laptop back from being repaired I'll be installing it.
