C'mon matey, you know i have no idea, been on a basic book keeping and accounts course today, she showed me excel on windows and it would be perfect, i just want to do very basic outgoing and incoming with no payroll, if Office 2003 will do that it would be perfect.

Don't confuse him Dave
Wayne if you want basic Excel spreadsheet then Office 2003 includes it but it isn't the latest version or the one before that for that matter so it may not be exactly like they showed you.

Any version of Excel from '97 on will do for what you need. As mentioned Apache OpenOffice - The Free and Open Productivity Suite will also let you download a fully featured office package.

I meant the reference to OpenOffice so same applies to Keithy. Since it isn't mainstream it isn't going to be familiar to those experts that do the sort of training that Wayne is referring to. There is also the file type compatibility issue which I know is easy to resolve if you know how but ....
I'd stick with M$ software on this occasion - it will be easier for people to help him.

Bit of double entry eh?

Mine appears to be corrupted as I tried to stick it on my laptop and failed miserably. The open office spreadsheet prog will do much the same job buck shee though.

How come I never got a free butty for yanking your stereo?
