Camera apps for Android

What are you using?

There are loads of apps to apply special effects which is all very nice, but very few ordinary camera apps. The ones that do exist only take fairly low res pictures. The standard one is cack on my phone, the shutter button is in a very awkward place, and using the touch screen function is very hit and miss.

Yes but you take nice pictures using fancy kit that I wouldn't have a hope in hell of being able to use. I just want to be able to point the phone at things and snap a reasonable likeness without swearing.

Perhaps you could try some out and report back?

I'd have to buy a phone that can make use of apps first.

Not likely to happen for a while.

Why not just make use of the camera on your phone? If
you want better than that you, more than likely, ought
to look into buying a half decent camera.

My half-decent camera got drowned last summer. My daughter has two cameras but I can't always be fagged lugging them around to be honest. The phone does take a decent enough picture, it's just that the standard app is really clunky and unresponsive. Part of the problem is that there are about 15 million different camera apps so it's hard to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Probably, but the excess coupled with the likely premium hike would cost more than a new camera.

I've found a phone app that might be OK as it happens. It's called camera 360, it has lots of clever effects but takes ordinary pics too in a high enough resolution for my needs. I shall play further with it at weekend.

I have used camera 360 and it is quite good. The other thing I would recommend is download photoshop express, it is free and has a few nice things.
