Halo 4

I've been playing H4 for a few days now and I'm finding it to be a mix of good and bad, on one hand it's predictable but on the other hand there are some real eye openers from a story POV. Although the cut scenes and story development really seems to take a secondary role to the relentless battles.

Yes, it's a shoot em up, but previous Halo games managed to temper the grind of progression against wave after wave of alien foes with some genuinely funny humour.

There is none of this in H4, and I feel it suffers for taking itself too seriously.

Anybody on here playing and have similar thoughts?

Interesting. I'm playing a lot of Borderlands2 at the moment - and in a similar vein, it's the cracking sense of humour which is keeping me interested.

I've finished Borderlands 2, pretty good, same as first game though nothing new, started a new playthrough with the mechromancer character before H4 came out, still need to do playthrough 2, but wasn't that fussed about doing it with Salvadore.

Well just finished H4, 5 hours of gameplay on Heroic difficulty according to the in game counter.

Not exactly what I'd call value for money, the extra content better be good.

All the critics are raving about H4. I'm not overly happy with it.

The lack of the original music score has dampened the atmosphere a bit for me.

I've got all the characters up to about level 10, to try to get a feel for them. Salvadore was the one I had most trouble getting comfortable with, I have to say.

I have completed a playthrough as Axton. Am attempting a second 'true vault hunter' playthrough with him. It will be interesting to see how the mechanics hold up when the humour is already known.

Have you played it co-op at all?

Nope but played through the first game and all the downloadable content in co-op and it was great, good bit of loot whoring too.

Got myself a couple of golden keys so waiting til i've levelled up with a character I can relate to before I use them as the chest in Sanctuary seems to drop stuff aligned to your character which was no help for me when I used one at around level 10 with Salvadore and it didn;t give me stuff I would normally use.

Only just discovered that claptraps stash lets you swap stuff between characters as well so need to load up salvadore to move some cool guns I got over to Gaige the mechromancer.

You need an XBOX Live Gold account to play co-operatively, it basicly means I can drop into your game and play it with you, you can see my character and I can see yours and it can be a lot of fun.

I'm playing Borderlands 2 Co-Operatively with a mate.

I only play story/campaign modes online co-operatively

Not fussed about competitive online gaming, don't find it fun at all.
