Have Apple made a mistake with their new iPads?

The mini is $100 more expensive that the Nexus & Kindle offerings.

The iPad 4 replacing the 3 after just 6 months & incompatible with any accessories.

or will the Applisti just buy them anyway?

not been watching but the vast majority will prob buy them.

I always assumed the mini would clock in more expensive than the nexus/fire options. Apple have a tendency to price themselves above their worth.

Could be said for some car manufacturers also.

New iMac is nice but that thinness comes at a price, there's no optical drive. Think I'll stick with my trust Mac mini and iPad 3.

Can't see I'll be rushing to swap my iPad 3 for a new one either.

iMac definitely appeals though with the combined SSD/HD. Lack of an optical drive doesn't really worry me as I've been using a USB Blu-ray drive with my current iMac anyway.

I don't see that as a bad thing, optical drive technologies are ever changing and users who are interested in an iMac for digital video work would probably go for an external optical writer of their own choice over the internal drive.

Apple's strategy is obviously cloud sourced delivery of software so no need for media based installation anymore and with that no need for an optical drive.

My parents have had an iMac with a Superdrive for about 5 years and they hardly ever use the optical drive.

It also means you can stick the iMac up against a wall

Personally I like it but would be more inclined to go for an Apple display and a Mac Mini just for the ease of upgrade down the line and versatility of using the display for more than just the computer.

I'll be popping into the Apple Store at the weekend to have a lurk at the new iPad Mini, I was thinking of getting a Kindle Fire but I already have an iPad backup in the cloud with loads of apps and games and books and stuff so the Mini may be a better choice for me
