Got one of each. Useage is 98% / 2% in favour of the iPad.

Done some proper word processing on the iPad too. Made easier by a cheap external Bluetooth keyboard

Over the next couple of months there are going to be a lot of notebook/tablet hybrids coming out. They might be worth a look.

i suppose it depends what you want it for a netbook will have a lot more storage space as well if you're just wanting a basic web browser i'd go for the new samsung tablet as it's half the price of the ipad

Asus is an absolute junk brand.

The iPad would be 1000x better made and this is coming from someone who doesnt like them!

Aye, not fond of 'I' products either but the build quality is very very good

i too hate apple however i also have to agree, the cheapo brand laptops/netbooks are not worth buying cause in a year or so if you're lucky they will be broken, i had a fujuistu siemens laptop once and the build quality was shocking ater only 13 months ( yes just out of warranty ) it finally overheated due to a poorly designed cooling system ( a common fault after a little research ) and died a death.

Well. My Tprime is superb. No plastic anywhere. Just nice aluminium.

Tablet versus Netbook?

They both have their uses. I have a desktop, laptop and occasionally steal the Mrs's iPad (tablet computer, not sanitary towel!!). The iPad is great for quickly checking something - no boot time, no waking up time, it's just there. It's also the best for casual browsing on the sofa while the Mrs is watching some cr4p on the telly.

But there is nothing like a proper keyboard when you need to do some typing, and there is nothing like a proper big display when you've got serious work to do. So I have, and use regularly, all three.

They are good at making motherboards I give them that (apart from Asrock junk). This is all they are good at.

Everything else they put their touch too is junk. No matter how nice Asus looks on the outside it is utter junk on the inside.

I'll give you the Asrock stuff... Though they seemed to have separated them last time I looked (a while ago) as if it was a whole new brand rather than a budget range (like Toyota is to Lexus). Admittedly my main dealings have been their motherboards which I've often found very good (less issues than with Gigabyte/MSi). I'm hoping your sweeping statement doesn't hold true all the time for their stuff as I just bought a cheap laptop of theirs for someone... To be honest though, so long as it boots and runs PowerPoint and open/Libreoffice and doesn't break down quicker than the Toshiba I bought them previously then i won't care (Toshiba got motorboat syndrome and that's especially an issue when wanting quiet for the powerpoints).

I've never had a tablet, just desktop and laptop and there are still things I prefer to use the desktop for, though a 15.6" screen and decent size/shape keyboard helps... Now if only they'd do a 22" dual-screen portable laptop...
