Mini Disk

So I found my mini disk player and loads of mini disks up the loft the other day.

Should I keep this for nostalgia or get rid of this dated tech?

I have an mp3 player so don't really have a use for it.

I doubt it is saleable to be honest. Can you still buy mini disks?

Transfer all the Minidisc recordings you want to keep to mp3, and put your Minidisc player in the loft - in 20 years time you'll get more than what you paid for it on ebay!

(On a technical note, check this out: Transferring files from MiniDisc to PC | Technology | guardian.co.uk)

i have a minidisc deck, walkman and used to have a car stereo too, was fantastic in the car, you could just chuck discs around and not worry about scratches, i can't believe people still use CD's but not these. They should have taken off much more than they did, but were quite an expensive bit of kit at the time.

But mp3 has taken over now so no going back really.

Garage
I worked in Richer Sounds when Mini Disc was all the rage and TBH thought they sounded cack. The ATRACS compression system squeezed the life out of the music. Convenient though . . . . . . . . . see a pattern here emerging here . . . . . .

I remember some of the bigger shops started selling albums in MiniDisk format but they were too much more than on CD.
