Blogging

So, after reading one of my girlfriend's friend's blog I've become curious about blogging and a little bit tempted to try it but my had is full of questions.

Does anyone on alfa owner have a blog?

What do you use? WordPress, blogger, tumblr or some other setup?

Does anyone here read blogs either for something to do or when searching something online or do you feel like they are a self indulgent waste of time and internet?

If anyone on here does have a blog I would be interested to read it but I can understand if you wouldn't want to link it to you profile on here. The anonymity of the internet is sometimes its most useful feature.

Cheers

its all fun until something falls off.

Never had one though I know a few people who do.

Well written ones can be funny and informative/challenging etc. Often I do find them self-indulgent wastes of time but the internet is full of people who like to tell the world their thoughts and if that appeals to some people then go for it - afterall, it's only my opinion rather than proven scientific fact

The train :(

I am not sure of the point of a blog, is it to convey your own sentiment / content without any input from other people?

I suppose I might read a blog documenting a respray / rebuild of a car but I would rather read a thread on here on the same subject, as there would be the added bonus of both me and other people being able to add my/our contributions.

I always felt they were self indulgent but this one I read was well written and I kind of changed my whole opinion.

I suppose it does depend on your interests and how relevant it is to them.

I doubt I would be a good writer anyway.

I had a mate who had cancer, he kept everyone informed of the progress of his condition and unfortunately he never got the happy ending we were all expecting

Blogs can have a purpose, not something I'd do but I do read them though.

sorry to hear about your friend. It's good that they can be used for important things like that that rather than opinionated ramblings.

He was a fellow alfaowner and we'd met up a few times. Good bloke RIP Ian. https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/members/surfer69.html

Indeed, they can be good for important things and IMHO better then twitter which is just complete nonsense.

So. Now I have a WordPress account, not actually had time to explore the world of blogging though because as soon as I signed up I seemed to have lost all my free time. Typical
