DAB Radio Stations

I've a wee DAB radio in my kitchen which we love...but it only picks up a certain amount of stations...far fewer than the ones we can pick up on our freeview TV box.

I know it's a different medium.....but how can i pick up the freeview stations on a DAB radio ?

PS We can pick up every DAB station cos we're close to the transmitter.

I think you've answered your own question - you can't, as they are two different services. I'm pretty sure my DAB radio gets more radio stations than my Freeview TV does though.

Which station(s) are you missing on DAB that you want?

Do you have an iPod iPad or iPhone? There's a great radio app that gets almost every station in the world. It's called tunein radio. Gets Fm and digital stations.

Arrived today....very easy to set up.....TV:lots of channels, but in reality not much for Irish / British market....however internet radio is excellent:

99 Irish radio stations....and 1139 UK radio stations....all the main ones, plus thousands of foreign ones !!!!

Sound and picture quality for such a small machine is pretty good.

For £40 approx...you can't go wrong !!!

It does look like a great gadget! I'm very tempted at £37

At the risk of sounding thick - does it get BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, CH4 and CH5 TV channels?

Okay...here's the lowdown:

The wee machine is good value for £40...but it's all dependent on a good Wifi signal.

TV...bit of a gimmick..if u want UK channels...very limited..only live one is Sky News.

It's more of a super duper DAB radio...but very cute at it.

To tell the truth i was thrilled until i had it sitting out in the garden...i do like a little drinkie and some nice music on the patio...... unfortunately....my little machine doesn't !!!! Too far from the Wifi.

With sadness...it will be going to another home....my mate in work....if he doesn't like it...back to Argos

My brother in law has one coming tomorrow...he might be more impressed as he lives out in the sticks and can't pick up DAB....will keep u lot informed !!

Have you got a laptop? If so, lots of digital stations to be found, plug in cheap tesco pc speakers in the line in socket and wifi will reach ya garden too.

Not in the Line In socket. In the headphone socket. Better still get some speakers with a USB connection. Some reasonable priced USB speakers can produce some really good sound quality

Thanks for the info - I think I'll give it a miss in that case as it was primarily the TV I was interested in and already have MoS and Gear4 DAB radios that work well.

Depends on the amount of obstacles in it's path. Thick walls won't help but you should get 10-15 metres maybe more.

I got a Chronos iDock II for christmas (approx £70 from Richer Sounds)
It charges and plays both iPhone and iPod DAB sounds great.
Pure clean sound and no snap crackle and pop.
I need stations like XFM and Radio 6 now I am in the West.

I also have a Pure DAB for the kitchen and an Acoustic Solutions DAB receiver for my system.
I'm now considering AudioDab for my Alfa.

Just found this...could be light at the end of the tunnel...it's all to do with lack of bandwith and RTE VHF signals clashing with those in N Ireland...once analogue signals are turned off, progress might be made !!

Nothing Italian

If the issue is lack of WiFi range you could look at a WiFi range extender.

TP Link TL-WA830RE 300Mbps Wireless N Range Extender: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

Would help with your radio issues but also let you do some many other things in garden.
