un-external'ing an external hd

Here's the plan,

i have a 2tb external hard drive, and want to fit it as an internal hard drive.. is it possible...?

it's a hitachi lifestyle, pretty sure the reputable and well known chain "bloke in the pub" i bought it from didnt imply any warranties with it...

Most likely a stock drive in a caddy inside. Just take it apart.

It'll be an SATA Drive, providing that your pc has internal SATA ports then it'll be an absolute doddle for you

Careful though last time I did this I lost everything on the disk (luckily it was backed up) ... but it now works fine as an internal (mine was a WD)

True, just avoid any options to format unless you want it that way, Reason being that External drives are FAT32 for speed of transfer and reliability however there's the age old problem of copying a file larger than 4 gigs in size!

I had a WD NAS that was EXT2 formatted. You couldn't read it
directly (after pulling the SATA drive and plugging it in directly)
and had to use some software to pull files under Windows:
