netflix and dongles

I used to watched Netflix via my 360, but that packed up, and I've weaned myself off Fifa - so now I can't watch Netflix.

I've an LG telly but it's canny old and ONLY 42 inches. I've an LG Bluey - but it appears to be the model before you could stream netflix via.

So what are my options, please?

Smart TV?
Dongle of some kind?

Advice welcomed, chums. :tum:

I believe Chromecast are very cheap and very well thought of, as long as you have an HDMI connection free.

We use the Amazon prime stick to watch Netflix.

If you have a HDMI spare on your TV it is a good option.

A Roku is cheap and does a good Netflix. It will also do iPlayer, ITV Player, Amazon Prime, Sky Movies, Google Play Movies, Youtube etc.

One of the first ever music streamers. Such a shame that Roku moved away from that business.

When that went bump, I went to Logitech Squeezebox (which I still have), and they almost immediately decided to move away from the streaming business too.

I have designs on getting a Sonos set-up for the new house - so I think we can ll see what's going to happen to that company in the near future.

Sorry SiF, none of that is vaguely relevant to your question about videocasting.

Got one of these a few weeks ago, cracking bit of kit for the money:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/352413535106

There was a 10% off deal too on ebay at the time, so it was less than 300 delivered.

Smart TVs are so last year. No longer use the functionality on our Samsung as the Virgin TiVo (so-called set top box) now has iPlayer and Youtube. For anything else I want I plug the laptop in and use the TV screen. Ah, the luxury of a proper keyboard and internet access without the crummy Samsung interface.

Googley Chromecast

It's weird reaching for the phone to control what's on the telly.
