InDesign help wanted

Does anybody here have a good working knowledge of InDesign? I keep running into a slight issue that I haven't been able to resolve.

I want to be able to shut off/remove/de-highlight thick blue border lines that indicated the edges of columns because they cover up parts of the text.

I don't, but I checked with a colleague who does use it quite a lot... There reply is as follows (I'll attach their screenshots):

"If you toggle the view icons to preview, it switches off the column guides…

[InDesign1 & InDesign2]

You can also change the guides settings in preferences…

[InDesign3]

… and you can show / hide grids and guides in the View menu…

[InDesign4]

Hope that helps!

Thanks! that's really helpful. It hasn't quite solved my problem (getting rid of the blue column edges also gets rid of the mark-up tags I need) but it definitely is sending me in the right direction.

For whatever reason the client who sends me these files has started doing something different to the formatting, which is both beyond my scope and responsibility (since I'm not an InDesign expert by any means), but it makes the job I have to do a trifle harder.
