Help Hi fi repairs

Hi all,

My parents have a turntable that needs servicing / repairing but typing "hifi repairs Guildford" in to Google doesn't seem to produce many results and AV Forums doesn't seem to have a page for recommending services. Where can I look to find someone near them who might offer such services?

Ideally I would be looking for someone located in West Sussex, say between Chichester and Guildford.

There used to be a place on the London Road in Brighton.

There's a place on Baker Street (just off London Road) but that's in Brighton and I want somewhere closer to where my parents live.

The turntable motor sits under the baseplate and from what I can tell, there are two screws that hold the motor to the baseplate which are missing, meaning that the motor is lower than it should be. If I had the screws, then I could probably fix it myself (hopefully without injury....) but I don't know the screw sizes and I would rather leave the job to someone who has a bit more knowledge of the workings of turntables than I do.

Basically what I am looking for is a bloke, in a shop with dusty windows and cassette decks up to the ceiling, to give it a short once over.

You should have specified the required level of poshness.

I know just the chap.
He's in Fulham, but I hear you come to Brighton Off Sea occasionally?

Sam is an oriental gentleman who has had this shop for AT LEAST 30 years.
He's cheap, competent and honest
And just look at that shop front

(as an added 'bonus' (?) there's a shop next door selling kinky PVC and rubber fettish-clothing.)

Doesn't waste his money on flashy adverts and signage.

Exactly!

Seriously, I'm not sure how he hangs on - rents thereabouts are generally crippling.
Maybe an old school philanthropic landlord?
