A conundrum for the radio experts.
In my role as a motor sport marshalling Post Chief I use, at most circuits, a VHF-NFM radio. As it can be difficult hearing a hand-held radio in close proximity to racing cars, when a headset is not available I use my Maycom AR-109 scanner to listen to radio traffic.
Oddly, at Croft last weekend I was not hearing my own transmissions on the scanner - as the scanner was in the top left-hand pocket of my overalls & the radio was in my left hand I doubt if it was out of range! I was hearing the base station & other mobiles so there wasn't really a problem, but I'm just intrigued as to why this should happen.
