Looking for a nice RHD S2 Spider, fed up of viewing poorly repaired (and some dangerous!) cars out there.
Must have excellent condition hood, body and engine.
Not after a 10/10 car, but a good honest one that maybe needs a bit of TLC in other areas.
I've just retired and need something to tinker with, but be able to run in the meantime.
Early to late S2's, not worried about the year, 1750 or 2000cc.
If there is anyone out there considering selling, please get in touch via PM.
Many thanks
Steve

Dont be too worried about a LHD car, I was before we bought ours and it has proved to issue and in fact was a delight driving in Europe this summer.

I'd really like a right hand drive, tried LHD lots of times before, and, whilst I don't have a problem driving them, I just don't like it as much.
I've owned a couple of early 911's in LHD, and an Opel Kadett C GTE, so I'm quite au fait with them.

Well done Steve, looking forward to a run out together.

What does it need, what’s the plan?

Hi Simon, minor paint, minor hood repair, a small hole in the passenger footwell around the rubber drain grommet (hardly worth striking the welder up), but the rest of the floor & sills like new, but the best thing is the way it drives. gen 47000 miles, last owner only a year, but the previous owner had it for 26 years. A really well maintained, honest, matching numbers car with perfect door gaps, I jacked it up on all four jacking points on the final viewing (with the owners permission), and the gaps stayed perfect. It had 12 months MOT done in August with no advisories. Engine is quiet, responsive and powerful. Feels just like a well run in 2 litre. Gearbox perfect with no synchro issues. Interior excellent but needs a clean. Inside the boot is original paint, with original jack, and spare wheel well is perfect.
Steering wheel cracked but I already have a new one for it.
Most urgent is to get it watertight, (as watertight as any 70's sports car can be), then do the small floor repair. Its so minor I can fill the hole with weld. Then waxoil the underside.
Then fit an electric fuel pump, and an Aldon Ignitor. Can't stand the churning over with the mechanical pump until the carbs fill after leaving the car for a while.
My Ti has a 123 distributor, Mitsuba pump, and NGK Iridium plugs and starts instantly, hot or cold.
Will stay in my garage over the winter apart from good dry, salt free days, then tackle the minor bodywork in the spring. Not a good colour to match I know, but if I find I can't blow it in after the repairs successfully, I'll get it all painted. By then it'll need nothing more but a flat & paint.
Need a set of wheels though, looking for Momo Vega's, or something rare, 14's preferably, or 15's like the TZ1's I have on the Ti.
Black Momo Vega's look good on the yellow cars.
Yes will be good to get out with you next late Spring !

Current pics the week after next, when I've picked it up !
Attached a couple from when the PO bought it from London in August last year.

After a winter of lots of little jobs, here's how the Spider looks now.
Still some minor paintwork to do, & rear trailing arm & axle bushes, but very pleased with it so far.
Contacted the previous-bar-one owner who had it 26 years, and they still had the original hood cover, which they'd forgot to hand over when they sold it to the PO.. Just done a deal for that and it's on it's way.

Looks great Steve, perfect for the shopping for essentials lock down run!

I’ve been meaning to get a hood cover for the last 10 years!
