This still happening to me, everything just stops. Nothing loads and all you get is database error page. I had to leave the site and come back because nothing would work !

That database error message has been a right pain tonight, I've had to log out three times, just to post this.

and no it isn't my service provider, my laptop or my router, I've been posting tonight on a diving forum with not a single problem.

AO has been almost unworkable this evening. Posting takes ages, database error messages and the whole thing freezing up and having to get out and comeback in. Please fix whatever the problem is soon

Admin Steve is aware of the error and is looking into it.
In the meantime, if you get any unusual messages or error pages can you do a screen capture and post them in this thread please.

I don't think clearing of the cache will solve the database errors or go-slow - it was directed at Joe who was seeing some kind of weird advert.

I'm going to move these posts to a new thread as this one was relating to a Virgin Media problem which has now been solved.

Previously when there were problems with the site running slow a few of the biggest popular threads were locked & replaced with clones which seemed to help AO get back up to speed

Here is the list of the Hot Topics With Recent Posts from the Home Page

The All New Chat Thread. - (108026 replies)
Welsh People - (38088 replies)
The paying member story time! - (23544 replies)
The word association thread - (17763 replies)
Ignore Please - (15577 replies)

Perhaps it'd be worth doing the same again with the above threads to see if that helps, it can't do any harm & might improve performance in addition to any other issues which may be a factor of the current slowdown.

Also I've noticed as have a few others that posting a reply in some of the above threads seems to take a lot longer than in other threads ( this has been the case even before the current slowdown )

One other thing, last night during the slowdown I noticed that even if replying using the Quick Reply option the Thank You For Posting screen was also being displayed which shouldn't be the case

Thanks for Posting.jpg

Hi everyone, as I mentioned to the staff, working on getting the site onto a new server that will eliminate these issues and improve the performance. I'm so sorry about any inconvenience. I'll keep you updated asap to when this is complete. Thank you guys for your patience!

Cheers,
Steve
