Tweets pop-up

Yes, I'm whining again, but can we do something about the "tweets" pop-up? Seriously.

I don't follow twitter and I'm not at all interested in anything tweeted to twitter. If it's that important, I'm sure I'll see a post somewhere here on the main forum.

The pop-up number was bad enough, but the grey tab is very annoying as a visual distraction.

I'd like to disable this completely too. Can this be done?

*Heads off to the profile/options section to see*

I don't see what the big deals is

There is a tab in the left margin, it doesn't hide any of the text, if you aren't interested in it then Ignore, don't click on it & don't focus on it or stare at it

It is quite possibly the worst feature I've ever seen on here. Nobody is saying get rid of it completely, but there should be the option to hide it for those who don't want to see it.

I've added a loopback address (127.0.0.1) for tweetboard.com in my hosts file. Doesn't get rid of the graphic but does stop the red number (which catches the eye) appearing. Chrome might be able to do something about it but for two weeks I can't be fudged to find it, and this quick hack does enough for me.

To make it disappear:

Install Adblock extension.....right click on tweets......scroll down to adblock....click on block ad on this site....then move slider fully to the right and that's it !!

Tho' Adblock will slow your web pages a bit

Will someone please check just the signatures in this thread, some of those are more offensive to the eye and they are probably here for a whole lot longer!

So three/four threads now on this. Haven't read them all- some opinions or opposition of opinions needn't be so rubbing though

So it's a temporary promotion thingymigjig for AO, which is not a bad thing which I'm sure most agree.

May I feedback and say that it does seem odd that it must appear on the screen when even scrolling down. May I also suggest perhaps it should have been put up as a panel on the right handside along with additional AO features/links/comps/contacts/adverts etc? I'm not sure why it must be there, in view all the time, but then I don't know if that's how it just must be. If not possible this time, maybe a consideration for positioning anything else in the future?

So even if I read the tweets, the tweets thing won't go away? I'm already turning off plug-ins whenever I visit alfaowner.com because the animating Giulietta ad on the RHS slows down my scrolling.

I agree that it is incredibly irritating. While it may not cover any text, it is in one's peripheral vision when scrolling. Please, please remove it or reposition it.
