Image galley - not showing fullsize image - Resolved

As reported here, when clicking on on image an empty browser window is opened. Don't know if this one was forgotten. Anyway, I do get the image to show by removing all fields in the URL query string except the imageid.

The URL that comes up and does not work:

https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/galle...&cutoffdate=-1

Stripped URL works:

https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/galle...?imageid=10519

Also wondering, is it possible to delete images or upload new images to replace the old ones?

Hi Mr Justice,

I am not getting any problems with any of the links you posted above! They both work?
With regards to the deletion of images, you have full control of those here: https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/galle...mageuser=29046

When page loads, click on Image Tools>Edit Image and the rest should be very straight forward as the deletion option is obvious. Hope this helps?

I did some more testing and found that it's one specific parameter in the query string that stops the image from being served :

original=1

It's the same whether I'm logged in or not. If it's being served to you even with the "original=1" parameter, then perhaps it depends on some details of the account type? We ideally need a third party to test now, or two even; one other admin and one other normal user.

Whooops... yesterday I replaced image 1, and all looked well. Today image 1 is gone, and image 2 is no longer visible (got the 'no image' icon). The three remaining images have survived.

Edit: should that be a new thread?

16 hours ago I just did exactly this:

- selected the first image im my gallery
- clicked "Image Tools"
- selected "Edit Image"
- browsed and selected image locally in the "Replace Image" browser
- clicked "Save Changes"

Edit to add: I did not try the add or remove image features.

Now, 3 hours after I last looked at the gallery, the first image which had disappeared completely (no entry in the gallery) is back, but the second (never touched it except when uploading it more than one and a half year ago) is still showing as a 'no image' icon. In other words the image gallery seem to transmutate uncontrollably. However, in this case only the two first images are affected. To be frank, the gallery is a bit bugged... no doubt about that.

Thanks for the update...

I have been in the gallery all day, I know its frustrating for me to say this but I have had no problems using the admin account or member test account at all?

I will look into it but I cannot replicate. Try pressing CTRL and F5 when on the page with the errors? (A screen dump would really help)

It's not half as frustrating as for those who have to fix it - I know, I'm a programmer by trade.

OK - done a refresh and attached a screen dump.

Here's the complete HTML for the blank browser window that is meant to show the fullsize image;

------ snip -----
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>
------ snip -----

Don't hesitate to suggest tests that I can perform!

I just uploaded (replaced) that second image, since the gallery was looking a bit scruffy with the no 'image icon'. The replacement seemed to go well - I'll watch the gallery the next few days to see if it sticks...

Thought I should let you know, so as not to confuse the bug hunt

I have the same problem, the parameter &original=1 causes the full size image not to appear

example url which is blank
https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/galle...mageuser=45210

example url which works
https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/galle...mageuser=45210

Using Firefox 2.0.0.20 on Mac OSX 10.2.8 and have been for ages.

Until recently this was not a problem

cheers

It works now!

I have to be logged in, but that may be the intention(?) If I'm not logged in I can see the gallery, but clicking on an image brings up the log in page.
