don't seem to be ale to upload pics

per the title,

never had issues before...

have tried a couple of different browsers, and pics are in an accepted format and are not large.

when dragging into the box the pic shows for about ten seconds hugely oversized and then nothing.

previously this would happen and the picture would re-size and be accepted.

using windows 8.1 on a lenovo yoga, have tried both chrome and firefox.

any suggestions as to why this suddenly is not working ?

Pics if too big will not be resized, & a message will be displayed informing you of limit exceeded (see below)

The limits are 200kb for Basic (free), 300kb for Medio & 4000kb from Premio members

seems it's the re-sizing process that is not happening...

Will wait till this evening and try it on the wife's Mac and see if it works.

thanks for trying it your end, it rules out a site issue.

cheers

AFAIK resizing has never worked using Drag & Drop, resizing does work using the usual attachment method (paperclip icon in advanced reply window)

Are you using Drag & Drop or the paperclip icon in Advanced Reply, also what device, browser & AO skin ?

Are you getting any error messages, & have you exceeded your attachment storage capacity https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/profi...ditattachments

Full light skin on Chrome browser, Android tablet, uploading images from Dropbox - not by drag & drop. This system has worked no problem for many a month..

I click on "go advanced" then "manage attachments" etc

I've plenty of space left in my attachments, however rather than resizing (smaller) the images I select, the upload system is resizing selected images to 5x their original size - ie massive! It then tells me I've exceeded my quota.

Doesn't work in the enhanced mobile version either, using the paperclip

Hmm it doesn't like my images

I have 5mb of attachment space but when uploading an image with an original size of 2mb, rather than resizing it smaller it resizes it to 15mb & tells me my attachment quota is exceeded by 10mb..

Maybe try uploading a pic directly from your tablet to see if that works, & to rule out Dropbox issue ?

Could it be that my medio membership has expired? How do I find that out?

You are listed as an AO Silver Member, that means you are no longer a paying member, here will show when that expired AO Club

You can remove some of your old attachments to make space to upload more https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/profi...ditattachments

Thanks David, will renewing my medio membership give me an additional 30mb of attachment space, or just 30mb total?
Reason I ask is I have a very long running restoration thread in the classic section, which is image heavy...

Renewing will give a total of 30Mb not an additional 30Mb.

Perhaps use a hosting site such as Photobucket ? not ideal I know. We are hoping to get IMG tags enabled in the Tech Lounges but there's still an outstanding issue to be resolved before that can be enabled, I'll highlight that to Admin again.

Yes please, whilst I enjoy posting images and progress on my restoration, I don't enjoy it that much & 30mb by today's standards is a paltry amount to of space to rent/buy...

Photobucket gives 2GB for the free account...

this could be something we can discuss about in the near future. most social media sites are offering more attachment space. would this be something everyone is interested in?

I don't think there would be any objections to increasing the attachment storage limit for Medio & Premio members, as long as it doesn't have any negative impact on the forum, such as forum speed etc.

I'd love more space to document my 105 series restoration pictorially.. It might be of use to others hopefully

Currently I'm mean with my image uploading as I know I have very little attachment allowance

More images uploaded by all forum members can only make the forum a better place

OK - I know you are one of our mods @David P but I have sent a thread to the mod crew to get the inputs from the others as well to see if they'll agree to the increasing storage on attachments for medio and premio members. I don't see why not, this will benefit many people!

Thanks for your time on this guys and we'll get back to you on this (or David, if you hear back from the rest of the mods first, feel free to update this thread if you wish). Thanks again!

Cheers,
Natalie
