Caring with Cars 2011 - Enthusiasts raising money for seriously ill children

Hello all

I am unsure whether or not this has been posted before, however I have not seen another thread about it and it is for quite an important cause so here goes

I found out about the 'Caring with Cars 2011' event yesterday thanks to my brother who pointed it out to me. It is being held on July 9th 2011 at Charlton Farm near Wraxhall (near Bristol) which is close to Tyntesfield.

The show is to help support the South West Children's Hospice by having a wealth of cars being shown at the farm for the children who are supported by the Hospice but also for all car enthusiasts showing and any visitors who come and visit too There will be a raffle with some pretty cool prizes, a lot (nearly 300 so far) of just AWESOME cars - List here: http://www.pistonhea...ent.asp?i=24428 - and also showing your car is free, you just have to be a registered member at PistonHeads to do so which is simple and easy to do

So yeah, that's just a brief description by me and if you are free on Saturday July 9th and are willing to travel to the Bristol-ish area, then I think this would be a fantastic event for any car enthusiast and you'd be doing a great thing for the South West Children's Hospice and the Children themselves

It'd be great to see a few more Alfas added to that list as they are such beautiful cars and I'm sure they could steal a bit of attention away from some of the supercars that'll be there

Now all I have to say is, I hope as many as possible can make it! Also I believe there is a 400 car limit and at nearly 300 cars now with just over a month to go, you may need to apply sooner rather than later to definitely have a spot on the day

Lastly, here is the official website - Caring with Cars 2011 : Enthusiasts raising money for seriously ill children

Chris

P.S. I am posting this in the South West area due to the event taking part in the South West, however it'd be great if word of this awesome-sounding day could be spread to car enthusiasts in other regions too please

I was down to go to this but unfortunately won't be able to now Just in case anyone else can't make it, the chap organising it is apparently planning another event in the Yeovil area in Sept

Yeh it'll be good to see the Alfa lot again And that's a shame ParanoidPenguin.. I love 156 GTAs! Hopefully the one in September will be before Uni starts again though as I'd like to go to that too.. Bit more of a drive to get there which would make it more of a day out

Hello

My name's Graham. I'm 'the chap' referred to by Paranoid Penguin.

There's a few points about our event that need a little clarification.

Start time (i.e. the gate opens) is 10am. Please don't turn up before that as you'll just be in a queue and we'd like to avoid that.

Due to the reason that the children are at the hospice, we will not know until the day whether any will be well enough to leave the building to come and look at the cars. As such the event is an enthusiast's car meeting to raise money for the charity, rather than a gathering to excite the children.

To come along to the event, you must register on Pistonheads and then add your name to the list. You do this by logging in to your Pistonheads.com account and then click Add/Remove at the bottom of the car list page. What is important is that you remember your PH account name on the day of the event, as this will be checked against the entry list as you arrive.

You cannot just turn up on the day.

Yes, there is a 400 car limit. We are amazed at the quality of the cars attending so far.

There is no public parking or public access. The event is for the car owners who are attending, but all car enthusiasts are welcome. If you want to come, you will need to pop your name on the list.

As Penguin said, I have another event on 4th September which will benefit the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance. It will not be on this scale, but should be a nice event. There will be a chance to go and meet the team and take pictures around the chopper. I'll get in touch on here when I'm putting it together.

Thank you very much for running this event and also for the extra clarification that I forgot or simply did not know! Also I and I am sure many others look forward to hearing more about your next event in September.. I also hope its ok to try and spread the word (as I have attempted) to as many motor enthusiasts as possible as it really is for such a great cause, so my first thought was that the Alfa lot are a nice bunch so lets try and get some more going..

Anyway once more it has been very helpful for this extra clarification from you

Hi again Graham - good to hear from you and thanks for all info. Also apologies - I was travelling at the time I posted so couldn't recall your name

It looks like you've got a great selection of cars signed up already

Just a quick update to say the list is now quite rapidly filling up, with a real wealth of cars filling the ranks now! And at last another Seat is going, a lovely looking yellow Mk1 Leon Cupra R

Still plenty of time to register on Piston heads and sign your car up on the list - http://www.pistonhea...ent.asp?i=24428 - before the Caring with Cars charity car show for the South West Children's hospice on Saturday 9th of July

You must sign up though, which can be done via the bottom of the car list page linked to above. Also see TVRV8S's post above for information of the day itself, start times and such.

Also the list of raffle prizes on offer at the event has grown too, with some seriously cool prizes to be had, which consist of the following:

http://www.caringwithcars.com/raffle_prizes.asp

- Audi TT Roadster for the Weekend! (Fuelled and Insured) - Bath Audi

- Porsche Driving Experience - Porsche Centre Bristol

- Full Hospitality & Pit Tour at Silverstone Classic - Roger Wills Racing (£You cannot buy this)

- British GT hospitality at Donington - United Autosports

- A Day with Chevron Racing at the British GT Silverstone - Chevron Racing

- Jenson Button Signed Vodafone McLaren Cap - JensonButton.com

- £500 Bodywork / Paintwork Voucher - Alsa Automotive

- Michelin Star Lunch for Two at Gordon Ramsay's 'Best Restaurant' - Casamia, Bristol

- Oakley Whisker Designer Sunglasses - Ellis Killpartrick (Worth £170)

- Trial Gliding Lesson - British Gliding Association (Worth £90)

- 2 Team Shirts - Aston Martin Racing / Prodrive (Worth £40 each)

- Paint Chip Correction Kit Voucher - Chipex (Worth £50)

- Magnum of Janisson-Baradon Champagne - Elliston Southwick Fine Wines (Worth £40)

- Try Sailing 1 hour voucher - Shell Bay Sailing, Dorset (Worth £20)

- Family Ticket - Great Dorset Steam Fair (Worth £50)

- Family Ticket - Bovington Tank Museum, Dorset (Worth £39)

- Gerry Marshall - His Authorised Biography (Worth £45)

- 2 Tickets for a Bristol Packet Boat Trip (Worth £11)

It is just becoming a better and better charity car show event all the time!
