service

my v6 could really do with a service, i used to service my old car myself and the way things are at the momement with the cost of living going through the roof, i feel giving somebody a shed load of money to do a job i could do seems abit silly.
its gonna cost me about £100 in parts for a full service
spark plugs
oil and filter
fuel filter
pollen filter
gearbox oil
any thing else?

just wondered how much people pay to get their cars serviced? and where?

and how many d.i.y?

Re: service

My last service was £120, but didn't include spark plugs (as they didn't need doing). If I were you, I'd get someone else to do the service, but do the spark plugs yourself as they're the bits that will cost more due to having to take the inlet manifold off.

Re: service

That was change oil and filter (inc sump washer), fuel filter, antifreeze, and a bulb. Didn't bother with pollen filter, got a K&N panel filter and had the brake fluid changed recently.

I'm just thinking of the hassle of draining and disposing of oil and other bits apart from anything else.

Re: service

Well my car is due its 96,000 service and I'm unsure as to whether or not to take it to Ongaro. I know they're good, they sorted my cambelt issues really well. The plugs have been done (at a cost of 140) so I think its mostly filters and oil that needs changing. but I would like to get my suspension and brakes checked over.

Re: service

Phoned up for a quote from Ongaros today for a 96,000 service and they quoted me 280 inc vat without the plugs and belts cos they've been done.

Re: service

Filters, oil change, brake/suspension check I suppose. Gonna get it MOT'd first then see about the service.

Here's a site that tells you what should be done for each service. Quite handy. I'm starting to wonder why I was quoted so much for the service when that site sates that a 96,000 service should cost £135.
