Maybe the organisers are being charged too much to hold the event at Hopetoun House, nice as it is.

Just read the thread on PH, basically Hopetoun are not car people. SIC&BD has been great, but the organisers want to have the cars moving so that we can see and hear them all in action.

Perth is a working airfield. I doubt they would want cars racing up & down the runways.

Sad. But I think a multi faceted decision.

However, could I ask moderators/admin to amend the thread title as Hopetoun was Scottish Italian Car & Bike day (run largely by one individual and all fees over costs went to Hopetoun's charity) and not to be confused with SICD as run by Alfa Romeo Owners Club Scotland (SAROC), which WILL most definitely happen again this year at Hill of Tarvit (NTS) on Sunday May 26th.

Everyone welcome. Especially all of those hot super cars - plenty of hard standing to show them off on the approaches to the house.

How about Callendar House in Falkirk, central for motorways, good hardstanding in front of the house with a huge flat grassed area in front of that. I know they have held music concerts on that area before.

Organising an event of that size isn't just about finding a piece of land. It's a massive undertaking. And an expensive one if you don't get the cars/public there.

I hope that a new venue is found for next year - it's a show I enjoyed going to each year. Inexpensive and dog friendly is always a huge hit with me, especially having to travel a fair distance and usually stay over

Oh well. Lets hope the organisers take everyones thoughts and ideas on to make a great 2014 show. It's always been great.

And it all started as an idea of mine back when I was a rep on here......to have a joint Italian vehicle club meet.

I luckily and randomly contacted the right person through Pistonheads and in that first and continuing years it turned into a very good event.

The scale and pressure of being involved in organising somthing like that is the reason I stepped away from it.

Actually spoke to the organiser the other day, but not about Hopetoun......look out for a feature on a Lambo or 2 of his in Retro Cars mag soon.

I was at Ingliston for an Alfa Owners club track day in my 145 qv years ago. Does that still exist as a track venue?

Some of you may be aware that the Tayside Classic Car Club show is held at this venue each summer and it has been suggested by the organisers that Alfa Owners would be welcome to attend. See this thread:
https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/north...tml?highlight=
I don't know if anything can be arranged but for me, I go to this show anyway so I intend to enjoy the day indulging my first interest, yes, even before Alfa Romeo...Classic Cars! (especially Fords' being the proud owner of a 1969 Cortina 1600E in the 70's my second car after my Cooper 997) Dinomito has posted regarding this in the passed but little or no interest was shown for some reason but as I said in the post, this is a well organised show which is well attended. It is also within easy access of the A90/M90....Just a suggestion!

The beauty of this event is that it is already organised so I'm guessing that all that has to be done is to clear it with the organisers and turn up on the day with our subscriptions!

What say you dinomito?
