Garage
Don't know - and can't speculate - on cost, however am told CP garage services in Dundee are very good as are McLennans in Loanhead, Edinburgh.

Our resident Fifer (and super Mod) P17SUT is the best man for any Kingdom related Alfa queries. I'm sure he'll be along sometime soon

The 2 mentioned above are best for Fife. Going to depend where in Fife you are whether you head North or South.
I bought my first Alfa from Euan at CP Garage Services back in 1991 and have been going to him for MOTs and larger repairs/services since then. Give Euan a phone on 01382 731479 for a chat. Euan is a real enthusiast and serial Alfa owner. If the car is to be in overnight you may well get offered a courtesy car.
McLennens is owned by Stuart (Stewart?) McLennen who used to be the Service Manager at Fishers in Edinburgh (I think). Fishers was, for many years, the longest standing Alfa Dealer in Scotland before it all went Pete Tong about 15-16 years ago. Two independant Alfa sepcialists emerged out of the Fishers wreckage, McLennens and Ed Labinjoh who is still in the west end of Edinburgh (Canning ST Lane if my memory serves me correctly).
McLennens may be further to get to than Ed, but probably easier as it is just of the bypass past Ikea. Easier than going into town. I have always been a bit put of by the fact that McLennens looks like a scrapyard, but the work seems to be of a high standard.
I'd give both CP and McLennens a phone to discuss the work and get a price. Based on price and ease of getting to either, make your decision.

Yep what was said above covers it really, just depends what convenient.

If I remember correctly, my current twin spark had its belts and variator changed at a specialist down south before I got it for around £700.

Garage
CP did our 147 earlier this year. Unfortunately I can't now lay my hands on the invoice, , but including the variator it was in and around the £400 mark as I recall.

He lives in a village just outside Kinross and does some stuff from home, not sure if he has a unit / lock up somewhere for tackling bigger jobs undercover though.

Iain has access to my unit, lock up if he requires. He is presently rebuilding an Alfa V6engine for me there. As always it is a labour of Alfa love for him.
