I cant remember when last I had a build thread, so heres my Swagon build.
Things will start to pick up in the next three months as Im attending the annual show in Kimberley.
I bought Adrien's wagon, while the color is not my favorite I wanted a good base to start off with. So far Ive bought GT Toora's(jetfins), GTA style headlights, black leather interior from a sedan(rear backrest dont fit), side skirts and some stickers.
Coilies in the form of Maxtracs are on their way.
Mechanically Ive only replaced two tyres(might be three soon as I have a leak somewhere) and Speenvark helped me replace a wrongfully diagnosed slave cylinder, my master cylinder is acting up, oh and a very expensive batery. The car is smooth and drives well...slow compared to my previous cars but I like its character...it will be low and slow.
Plans for the coming months are:
Split GTV wheels
Coilies
Bodywork
Fit the rest of the interior
Fit GTA headlights
Fit side skirts
Source a Cupra front lip
Louder backbox
Roof racks and roof box or bike carrier
Still deliverating whether I should gloss black or plastidip the front grille/scudetto.
The badge kit didnt come with the proper rear badge emblem, just a paste on badge as with the front...so judt stuck it over the original badge...not the best, but works.
After fitting the side skirts the proper way, we jacked the car up too high, the springs subsequently unseated...now I need to jack up again and make sure theyre seated properly again because the noise is unbearable. But this morning Im driving and the noises are down 99%...does the springs reseat itself as driving happens?
I remmeber I had the same issue with my GQV coilies and going too low, but these I just reseated and all eas well...lemme see how it goes throughout the day.
On overpaying for wheels - I've done that twice and that is why I will always alert whoever I sell to of any problems. I also paid R3500 for straightening, fixing and spraying my rims a special colour.
97% complete. Project DaiLow has gone through a massive transformation...
I sprayed and refurbed the wheels myself, Ill give it a 7/10 for firat time effort, I need to spray the insides of the wheels and just add a protective layer, I dont want it shining.
I set the springs perfecly now so they are seated correctly, but the right fron top mount rubber wherein the spring must rest is completely knackered. Ill have to buy two new ones...whats the price on these things..
My inner CV is also leaking, so yhis week its nre inner CV boot, I already replaced the outers, the left inner looks new.
Now theres a whine from the right front side as the revs climb, as they drop the whine subsequently drops aswell.
What could it be?
My inner CV boot is totally knackered and the car is going to my mech tomorrow to replace the inner rightside boot.
The whine came about after I gunned the car to 180kph in this heat...all my vitals seem fine, temps under 90, no lights on dash, car drives fines except this whine above 2500rpm.
The cpilies were unseated because it was lifted and because its so low you have to ensure its seated before setting the car down to settle on the springs/coilies again...Ive gone through this thats why I know the issue...and I was right it was infact unseated...badly at that.
Ive decided to replace the front rubber that sit under the top moubts as the right one is badly worn...so chances of that spring becoming unseated is large, left is now perfect.
Didnt expect this to happen before the show...eish
