Advice

Hi all,

Need some advice on this below TI model.
Alfa Romeo 159 2.0 JTDM-HUGE SPEC LOW EMISSIONS Diesel 2011 Saloon for sale in Dublin 15 €20,999

I only have my Alfa a year but I was thinking of trading mine in for this, only reason been is cheaper tax, the sat nav and love the 159 in black. The seats, red steering wheel, gear knob and rev counters dont do anything for me.

Is there much of a difference in the 1.9 JTDm compared to a 2.0 TI?

One bad thing that strikes me about this car is that the milage is 99KM for a 2011 car, where mine is 2009 and only has 68KM

Thanks,
Daniel

If your main reasons for wanting to change are for the cheaper tax & satnav then I wouldn't bother, how much will you save a year on tax versus what it'd cost to change ! Also I'd prefer an aftermaket over a factory fit satnav every time as they are usually more user friendly, have better maps & can be updated free/cheaper.

Another thing to remember is the cost of tyres on the 19" ti alloys, the correct size & load rating tyres for a premium brand will be more than €1000.

It is a good looking car though, good luck with your decision & as they say: Your money, your choice

If your car is well minded, I wouldn't bother.
You could end up swapping a well minded car for a basket case and for what, sat nav and the cheaper tax???

I doubt they'd be giving you it on a straight swap either. So lets say its 5k in the difference....that buys one heck of a sat nav and a **** load of tax.
If it was a brand new 159, or even a demo car id say go for it, but its got 90K odd on it and could have had the bolix drove off it. At least you know your 159. You know whats been done to it and theres nothing wrong with it.

Bare in mind though that my 156 is 12 years old and my gtv is 18 years old, both are petrol so I don't have experience with the diesel engines.
However I don't see the advantages of changing.

Pm for good price on parts for your 156 v6

If you know the CO2 emissions rate VRT will calculate roadtax for cars after 2008.
Or CC on pre 2008.

dan your mad to even consider changing the car.if nothing else the time you have that one is the time you gotten to know and fix the issues.getting a new car will set you back to square 1, you will be left with a car that you dont know the history of and any issues that crop up will cause you grief.the car you have you know the issues and whats been done to it so your in good standing for it and know what doesnt need to be done.. dont change a car just for the accessories, and they are right.tires on those 19's are about 300-400 a corner of a decent brand and 25-300 on an economy brand .. plus the price difference you could get the Alfa OEM parts that you want for less than the additional cost of getting the new one.

i guess depends on the wheel but my old car had 205/45/17 and the 45 was an odd size so usually had to be ordered in. and they cost me nearly 200 for a budget tire from a budget suppler, inc balancing and disposal and so on ... but your still talking a decent bit.

so 19's on a 159 (not sure the sizing) i would think 150-250 atleast a corner. your still talking big buck's really even on a budget..

the current car (yaris) is 30 a corner now LOL

Ouch, that must have felt horrible, parting with 200 a corner for budget tyres
