Warning saved gtv on done deal

Last Monday, I saved an Alfa Romeo GTV 1997 on DoneDeal from a slow death. I paid €300. Was it worth my while? Heart over head. Good engine and gear box. Needs suspension work and a few odd jobs. What do ye think?

Do you have any photos of it?
What colour was it? The proteo red one?
Ive a rosso red donor gtv if you need any parts.

And nope Gav, its not yours. Yours does have its nice red bonnet though now and will be ready by the end of may.

best of luck with it. What started as a gearbox replacement on my gtv has gone way out of hand at this stage, but will be worth it when its finished.

If you need some spares feel free to message me and ill get back to you with what i have readily available.

Also if you are buying new parts, this crowd in the uk have decent prices plus 10% off if your a donated member to fiat forum (it costs 1 pound to donate).
If you're replacing wishbones etc, use trw. Theres 60% off trw suspension parts on MisterAuto at the moment.

Also in case you haven't yet seen the wonders that is the rear suspension on the gtv....here you go

Good for you mate, I bought my Spider 916 with the intention of fixing a little and just driving but the heart rules over the head sometimes.

I am a few grand into my project - Spider Projects 2014 Photos by David_Carpenter | Photobucket

Still needs a complete respray and exhaust work done, NCT too.

Good luck with the GTV revamp and if there is anything I can help you with, just ask.

That's really great to hear Shane, can't wait to see the results. Have you stared a progress tread?

Are you doing the work yourself or is this car down in Don Baker's by any chance?

I did, I left my car down into Don Bakers to see if it was worth restoring. Don did some work on the car, but the problem in the car is the 'air-bag warning light' which remains on; a common fault on phase one GTV's.

This is my last hope: Alfa Romeo GTV Spider Airbag ECU Reset Service 60625181 | eBay

Looks very good for the price! Worth saving.

Hope that the part linked to works out.

There is a thread here where you can set p1 TRW airbags yourself if you download the software and can wire the harness. If you search by member name redtop 68 and TRW2 airbag it should comeup?

Fingers crossed for me. My GTV is booked in for NCT on 3 July, in Greenhills. Airbag light and ABS sorted . Two new front tyres, auxiliary belt, all fluids changed and a couple of electrical glitches sorted. My only worry is front shocks but i'll take a chance.Road tax for three months and driving the 916 in the sun life does not come much better.

I saw it yesterday, if I ever buy a uk car I'm getting well and truly under it....
Also what do you want for the front badge on it (unless your keeping it for your good alfa badge stash). Mine has started to fade ever so slightly
