If I would be learning in Ferrari I would quickly end up on the cemetery.

Fortunately my learning car was skoda 120L

I learned in my dads Escort Cosworth. The examiner had never seen one before let alone done a test in one! I passed first time though and when I could afford to insure it I bought it off my dad...

Mine was a 1990 Toyota Carina E.

Comparison to the 458:

> 4 cylinders less
> 2.9 litres less
> ~ 462 horsepower less
> Carina takes about 3 times longer to 60mph

Whilst it didn't have the same sex appeal as the 458, it had 2 extra doors and it didn't spontaneously burst into flames

Example of the Carina in same colour: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4047/...00a140c9_z.jpg

Ah, if you had the option to drive a Ferrari wouldn't you ?
I say fair play to the dad (I assume its the dad that is the co pilot)

I never learned to drive, I am told, so I have yet to answer that question

I stand corrected. Same comparisons against the 458 still apply. It was my old man's car, until he wrote it off.

Mk 1 polo, KPT 710T. Rotted away as I drove the wheels off it!

I had two 10" 50w bass drivers from Maplin in the back parcel shelf and 900cc pulling it along, best car ever. Was nippy enough if you kept the valves bouncing.

Thing is, the 458 is a dual-clutch auto, so if they do their test in it, they won't get a licence to drive a manual transmission.

(and I learned to drive in a 1994 Citroen AX 5-door, 1.0 litre)

Learned in a mark2 escort , the instructor used to say thing's like
" look in the mirror , it's not just for shaving in "
&
"no point accelerating into a corner just to brake "
These phrases are still with me .
Passed first time , jeez 27 years ago .
On a side note , my dad used to say
" you'll be a year driving before you get the hang of it "
&
He was so right , at the time I was sceptical .

I learned to drive in my dads 1979 Dihatsu Charade G10. It turned out to be my first car too. I loved it and was sick when I sold it for £250. It was more rust than metal but I heard lately rust is lighter than carbon fibre...

looked almost exactly like this one - Daihatsu Charade G10 owners - Very rare MK-1 Runabout Coupe with aircondition
only mine had Dihatsu multi spoke wheels that I havnt seen anywhere else...

I learned in a 1997 opel corsa 1.2l. It even had power steering but no central locking. It had the softest suspension I have even seen! Driving rough roads was like being on a small boat, including cornering!
