Mp3 in Alfa

Just wanted to share my experience with installing mp3 module in my 166
I bought dedicated CD changer emulator which looks like this
http://www.audiostrada.pl/img/001.jpg

Installation is pretty simple just need to connect it in the back of the ICS (instead of cd changer) .
Device is pretty cool as it has SD card USB and aux in connection. (there is connection for bluetooth module as-well but havent looked closer into it as Have Nokia Bluetooth receiver already installed )ICS is recognizing it as original CD changer so you can still change , search trough song etc and quality of sound is perfect .

It took me 30 min to install in glove compartment and run cable to ICS and now I can enjoy unlimited amount of songs and no interruption on rough roads.

Overall cost with shipping to Ireland 95e. (and I got 4GB sd card for free)

They have modules for 156/147/GT/Mito aswell

Device is distributed by company in Poland www.audiostrada.pl ( there is no problem with shipping to Ireland - took 5 working days)

That looks exactly like the X-Carlink model that I have in my 159.

Welcome to SHENZHEN CHELEBAO ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD

It is a good piece of kit, ive never used the bluetooth on it though.
One bad point on it is, that there must be some component(s) on it that cant operate at low temperatures (strange, I know), as many a cold morning the unit stalls, and I just have to listen to the radio instead.

It is xcarlink however 166 ICS interface was written buy guys in Poland as original Xcarlink (like one on ebay on your link) does not work with 166 Radio. Before only option for 166 was Loudlink (made by some Hungarian fella )
I didnt have option to test it in low temps yet (luckly we have nice summer this year ) but Guys in Poland where the winter can be pretty hard ( -10 , -15) never complained , maybe you should contact your supplier for replacement

I got a Connects2 kit this week which works the same way as the 2 posted above. I only put it in today but so far so good. It tends to skip the first 1-2 seconds of the tracks when reading from USB but is otherwise good. Preferable to CDs for sure.

How much Jimp? Like the sound of these things, just not for 95 quid!

Mine was 65 + 15 shipping, so about €95 in the end. The price didn't vary much from retailer to retailer when I was looking. Some might be cheaper but made up the difference in shipping. Plenty were more expensive.
