I finally found a decent 156 today, I'm over the moon!

You wouldn't believe the state of the ones in Cork I've looked at. I had to go to Newbridge for this one... but it was well worth it!

She's a '00 2.0 TS, Cosmos Blue and tight as a drum. NCT'd 'til January and taxed 'til next month. The timing belt was done 20k miles ago, along with the variator, balancer belt, etc. It also got a new MAF, thermostat, tyres and brakes all round. Absolute stunner of a car, and I got it for 650 quid!

The wishbones are knackered, but I'll sort them shortly...

I never realised how much I missed my old 156 until I drove this one, the spin back down the toll road was immense! :inlove:

Pics to follow :)

Thanks!

I won't be doing the wishbones myself, that's a job for the mechanic :D

So, I gave her a wash this morning - and treated her to a new set of wiper blades (Valeo "flat blades" - they look a bit weird, but they do the job) - and took a few snaps when she was dry!

My phone's camera is only a 3.2MP job, so they're not great.

Anyway, here are the pics :)

The steering wheel is fairly worn (it has done almost 115k miles), so I might get a leather cover for it - 20 quid in Halfords. The exhaust looks newish too.

I didn't like the look of the velour, until I actually sat in it - so comfy! :)

I've got the bonnet badge sourced, as well as a set of teledials...

...and I'm also debating whether to swap the wood dash for a carbon one I have in the shed!

Thanks lads :)

Yep, that wood will be coming out! I might get some leather eventually too...

I also took off the undertray this morning, it was catching on speedramps

Oh, I almost forgot... I actually had a bit of trouble with my insurance company (AXA, if anyone's interested):

I went in to transfer the insurance to the Alfa, only to be told it was in a higher category than I was cleared to drive - it was group 31, apparently.
I asked her to read out the details of the car, and they had it on the system as a JTS...

Fast-forward five minutes, and I had her convinced the system was wrong - which it was, obviously. She put in the details manually, and I got a quote then. The 2.0 TS is group 28, so presumably my limit is 30.

She gave me a temporary disc (a whole ten day's worth) and told me to bring in the logbook by then to prove it's a TS, or my insurance will be cancelled! I hope the logbook makes it back in time...

At any rate, my insurance is only gone up by €90, not bad considering I transferred it from an E36 318i - a whole 40bhp less than the Alfa!

Ah the Rover's a classy enough car, especially with the quad-cam KV6 engine.

I am a little biased though - I had two Rovers that I loved to death, but both of 'em blew head gaskets... Damn K-Series!

Cheers Dermo, I'll give ya a wave if I see ya :)

Also, be sure to keep away from those bottles of Dreamy Sleepy Nighty Snoozy Snooze ;)

I think I saw your GT in Blackpool Shopping Centre recently enough! I was the guy in the old E36, picking his jaw back up off the floor....
