Stop gap car badly needed

Hi Lads,

I'm loosing the company VW Caddy due to taking a position in house but thats means no more free car, fuel etc etc. I have sold all of my Alfa's but just for a couple of months I am looking for something really really cheap and really really cheerful. Im sure in these times such a thing exists. I want something that is 1000 or less, is extremely eceonomical, cheap to tax insure etc and can comfortably take me and my mate and all of our golf equipment. I just need something for about 3 or 4 months I hope. 3 months tax will be cheap but will have to insure for the year (nobody does 6 months anymore . But when I'm done it will be sold to one of those lads who put up signs looking to buy old cars. So if your recommending something bear in mind its going to the scrapper so no nostalgia stuff
Any recommendations are welcome, and if you can find something thats NCT'd then happy days.

I seen a really nice phase II 146 1.4 in red with those lovely wheels but I just couldnt bring myself to scrap an Alfa and insurance wont be cheap either. It would be perfect only I think running costs will be a bit over my budget.

Dont bend the rules, Rule the bends

Any good at fixing timing issues? My 03 156 JTS is parked up in my garage, timing out according to ECU but it does start (and would run but very poorly- so i dont at all). Not sure what caused the problem. Not really what you're looking for but just in case and it is in very good condition if that problem was sorted.
