Not thrilled.

I'll be paying €1224.00 per year on motor tax alone now ... I could run a 2.4 JTD for a whole chunk less.

Keep an eye on the 'Alfa's For Sale in Rep. Of Ireland' thread ... either GT JTDm or 156 SW (or both) going on sale shortly I suspect.

How much would I get for them by selling them? God knows but seriously considering moving to one car very shortly.

Ah no, those two cars are minded better than my child! And have had as much spent on them lol keep me in mind for the sw as a 'smaller' petrol would do if I can't find a decent diesel (anything) soon!

@ alfamj - you're not.wrong mate but emigrate where? Think I'll do one of those Chinese language courses and head out there, they have all the money now after all...

Edit - I think the swear filter should be removed when discussing governments or bankers.

@propellerhead... UK?

Its circa £400 in the UK to tax a GTA. Approaching the €2k mark here. What a joke.

You'd have to be resident there.
Customs have roadside checks periodically if you have UK/NI registration....

Well for the tax you have to pay on a V6 you could have a mortgage on a Holiday home in the North and bob's your uncle?

edit2add: get 6 of you guys together and with your 2 grand car tax you will each pay 2 months mortgage per year, register your cars there have use of the holiday house each for 2 months per year and with property so cheap there now you can cash in the capital appreciation in five or so years on the property and by that time the Republic will be back on its feet!?

Nah, because if they find out you are actually living & working in Ireland they go snap.

I am thinking of permanently leaving next year
Its not looking like I will be allowed to enjoy myself simply put.
Higher motor tax, bad roads that wont be improved upon till sometime in 2015, higher insurance and general price hikes and tax increase that is higher than increase in wages mean its time to go.
Shame, cause I kinda like it here
