Fiat Group - Clueless

First of all let me start by saying that being completely new to owning a Alfa Romeo and my new Mito QV.

Since I've owned the car new from April of this year the mechanical side and the car is out of this world, great to drive extremely fast and a joy to own and drive, UNTIL this on going issue I'm having with the Blue and Me in the car. It has always had the issue from the day I picked it up and so far Fiat group have NO IDEA what the issue is. I've had the following replaced: Blue and me unit, VDU,radio,all the buttons on the steering wheel, CPU, and at this point today Fiat have said to completely de programme the car as it was when being assemble at the factory. I know it's all under warranty but I've been with out my car with this issue for 3 weeks now not to mention the months gone by travelling up and down to the dealership , so id say in total about 4-6 weeks. Customer service in Milan has been informed a long time ago and will have to wait and see the out come. Major compensation is in order for this complete balls up and lack of customer service and understanding. Watch this space guys and girls !!!!

Sounds like the dealer has been making a genuine attempt to fix the problem with all the parts they have replaced.

What more did you want?

What more did you want?
It's not the dealership I'm having a go at, infact they have been extremely helpful and understanding. It's the fact that Fiat haven't really got a clue on what the issue is, so the dealership and myself are getting very frustrated about it. The dealership has been diamond.

Blue and me has nevered worked well in my 159 since I got it new nearly six years ago, mind you everything else has been spot on.

Not being funny but FIAT brought Alfa back from the brink and since built some of the best looking Alfas ever made imo, to call them clueless is a bit of a stretch dude. ;-)
And aren't curious electrical gremlins all part of the fun? Seriously though, I can understand you being cheesed off with a brand new car being not 100% stick with it though, its just teething troubles.

Caviga- just as a matter of interest; is the blue & me function a necessity for you with the Mito QV is it just the principle that it should work that is of concern to you?

My old man's blue & me in his 159 Ti has been acting up aswell, he had it down under warranty but decided to let the issue go after the second warranty attempt at fixing it (resets & software updates). Although as peed off as he was he said he probably would never use it and if you ask him getting the issue resolved is not worth 3 weeks of being without his car. You are not alone with this issue that is for sure- I have seen plenty of threads about it not working on here in the tech section. I do hope you get it sorted though..

What is your issue with Blue & Me - you haven't told us!

A bit like Fiat, we're going to be pretty clueless in offering help if you won't say what's wrong with it.

Reading original post it appears it's that it doesn't work the way it should and garage/Fiat Group can't isolate the problem.

Well, no. Saying "it doesn't work the way it should" doesn't tell us what it's not doing that he thinks it should be.

If he were to say something like "it doesn't connect to my iPhone" or "it doesn't show tracks on my MP3 player" or "my sat nav voice activation doesn't work", then we have an actual problem. Otherwise we, fiat and anyone else is just guessing while the person is not being helpful in explaining the exact nature of the problem.

Fiat already know what the in depth problem is, it's been going since April. So like I said in my original post the issue still stands.

When you press the menu button on the steering wheel there should be 4-5 options that's displayed on the VDU this doesn't happen and in turn doesn't display phone book or contacts, media player options, and cannot access the Sat Nav options when the Tomtom2 live is connected. Nor can I use the blue and me within the car it's self.

OK, so you've checked each item one at a time - i.e. with just the phone connected, can you see the contacts, etc. Have you also checked your phone in another Mito to see if it works properly in it.
With the phone and MP3 disconnected (and anything else) does the Tomtom connect and work?

What do you mean by "Nor can I use the blue and me within the car itself"? Blue&Me is an interface, it's designed to allow communication between bits of tech.


I work in IT and the way we tend to resolve issues is to try to replicate the issue in a standard setup. In your case that means get into a different Mito and go through the screen displays for B&M. Compare that to yours when nothing is connected to it.
Is it the same? If yes, then continue the testing. If no, then check versions of the firmware, etc.
Now connect the first device, using the same cables or bluetooth setting as you have.
Does it work on your car? Does it work in the other car?
If it works in one and not the other, swap any cables over and try again.

Once you get the first device working, disconnect it and move on to the second.
Yes, do it one device at a time.

If a different car works as you expect using your devices and your cables, then the issue lies with your car.
If you haven't carried out tests using your devices in another car, then there is no proof that the issue is with your car and replacing components in it will just be a waste of time and effort.
