Looking at their website, the price is around 125 for a halfords one, and 140 for a bosch one.

Are they really that expensive ? I thought you can get a battery for around 60-70

I got one for the 166, it was around that price. Shocking really, but you being a rich student, it shouldn't be a problem... :mygrin1:

Local motor factors - they should be able to sell you a battery for 60 or 70 euros.

Maybe you can stick a few 1.5 Energisers together (just in case you didnt do math ) it would mean you would only need 8 .. about a tenner

On the real question , you get what you pay for , my battary for the 166 cost 185 recently but they are a bruiser !

I know bud for us all it seems , I can get a price for you off my buddy's Auto factors for you , they always do well all I will need is the rating on your current battary ? We have the technology to deliver it

I know it's a retarded question, but how do you find out the rating ?

There should be a sticker on it with the info.

Also be careful it's the correct dimensions as IIRC there is ( or was ) a mistake in some spec listing meaning the supplied battery was the wrong dimensions. Probably best measure your existing battery & check the new one is the same, also check the poles are in the same position so you won't have any problems getting it connected.

No sticker on it And as far as I can work it out, the battery tray is bigger than the actual battery.

Have a look in the back of your Owner's Manual, it should list the required rating of battery.
Or maybe one of the other 156 owners will check their battery for you.

Alright.. So having searched some threads, I think this is the supposed rating a battery for a TS should be.

63Ah & 610CCA for the 242x175x190 size.

Based on the dimensions, mine isn't even close to that. Whoever changed the battery bought the cheapest yoke.

Sounds expensive - I paid 132 for a Bosch battery for the 166 and this was in Halfords.

Not really this was a proper Vatra deep cycle battery with 140 cold cranking amps meaning it could run my 1.2 KW stereo not a bother for a good few hours at high volume without needing to have engine running and still be able to start the car. Bosch are muck to be honest.

I got a 'Banner' battery off a local garage there a few months back for €67 I think it was.
Only a 2 year guarantee I think but it was good enough to start a 166 v6!
can't remember the size/amp etc off hand...
